A group of school pupils dramatically escaped a huge blaze on their bus after being evacuated from the vehicle minutes before it erupted into a fireball.
Pupils from Castell Alun High School in Hope, Flintshire, were taken from the coach yesterday afternoon when a quick-thinking staff member spotted smoke coming from the front of the vehicle.
And just moments after the teenagers had been removed from the bus, the vehicle exploded into flames a few hundreds yard along the road.
The bus driver is said to have also escaped from the vehicle before it was engulfed in 10ft flames.
The sudden fire was said to have been caused by an electrical fault in the bus's engine compartment, causing smoke which was spotted by eagle-eyed Diane Bates, who ordered the pupils off.
