A mild drama played itself out early morning of Tuesday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, as armed robbers made away with only ₦130 from their victim after a robbery operation, a development which stunned residents at the crime scene.
The victim, a taxi driver identified as Baba Toyosi, was embarking on his daily route at Rounder in the outskirts of the town, when the bandits accosted him at gun point, demanding for his sales for the day.
Newsmen gathered that, the robbers were armed with locally made guns, and the taxi driver to jelly, when gun was pointed at him had no choice than to cooperate with the bandits, appealing to them that he was yet to made enough sales.
He explained to the robbers that, he just had the sum of ₦130 on him, and to his amazement, the robbers collected it, searched the cab, and realizing that the victim nothing more, left with the little sum.
I was about to begin today’s work, when I saw them with local guns and ordered me to bring my taxi key and searching my pocket; but to my surprise, they took away the ₦130 left in my pocket from last night,” he narrated his ordeal.
The victim, who described the incident as amazing, said that he found it difficult to believe that they can descend so low to cart away as little as the sum of ₦130, but however, gave thanks to God that, he was not killed in the process.
