Adeshina (35), was said to have allegedly shot and killed Chief Jacob Bamgbelu, on November 10, 2011, at Itokin Road, Ikorodu, Lagos State. He was charged on a one-count charge of murder.
The prosecutor, Nwabueze Sunday, informed the court that the offence contravened Section 319 (1) Cap 17, 2003 Laws of Lagos State.
However, the accused (Adeshina) plea could not be taken but the Magistrate, S.O. Matepo, ordered that the accused person be remanded in prison custody, pending an advise from the DPP on the matter was received.
Counsel to the accused, Sporgon Ataene, pleaded with the court to have the accused remanded in police custody at the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, Panti Street, Yaba, Lagos, rather than prison.
Matepo adjourned the case till December 14, 2011.
In another development, a middle aged man, Lekan Yusuf, has been arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos, for allegedly using cutlass and other dangerous weapons in terrorising residents of Tapa, Freeman and Igunu streets, Lagos Island.
Yusuf (accused) was charged with conspiracy to commit felony, malicious damage and unlawful possession of arms.
He was said to have carried out the offences in the company of others at large on November 8, 2011 about 1am, by going about causing trouble with the use of cutlasses, axes and other weapons.
They were alleged to have destroyed four vehicles and other valuables belonging to residents of the streets.
