THE Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Hafiz Ringim, has appealed to officers and men of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) to remain calm over the delay in the payment of December 2011 salary.
In a statement in Abuja, the police chief said the delay was as a “result of inability of the clearing bank to credit the account of the police-paying commercial banks, which is urgently being addressed, and will be rectified soon.”
The Chief Supritendent of Police (CSP), Yemi Ajayi, said the statement was meant to clear the air on the delayed salary.
It urged men of the NPF to go about their normal duties as steps were being taken to resolve the delay.
“The IGP is using this medium to reassure the entire officers and men of the Force that this delay does not emanate from either the Force Headquarters or Police Affairs Ministry as is being speculated.”
