There was disruption of official activities at the National Assembly Complex Thursday morning when fire gutted the second floor of Block II of the complex.
It was gathered that the incident, which began at about 11.30 am, affected the Account and Legal Service Departments of the National Assembly Management.
When our correspondent visited the scene, many of the staff members were running helter-skelter; while others gathered in groups to lament what they described as loss of their personal belongings and vital official documents.
Fire Service officers who were battling to quench the fire, declined comment, but a Fire Service director of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Sani Saidu, said the incident was caused by power fluctuation.
He, however, said his team responded promptly and had successfully put out the fire.
