
Tragedy struck yesterday at Papalanto-Ilaro junction in Ifo local Government  area of Ogun state as no fewer than four  persons  lost their lives  in a multiple accidents, while several others  sustained serious  injury.
Newsmen gathered that the first accident occurred at about 8.55am which involved  a motorcycle whose  number plate could not be seen and one  articulated vehicle, otherwise known as trailer  with number plate Lagos  XQ47 EKY.
It was gathered that, the accident resulted inthe death of the motorcyclist whose identity  could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
According to a source,the driver of the truck was on top speed beforehe lost control and rammed into the motorcyclist, which eventually led to his  death on the spot.
The  remains of the deceased ,according to the findings  have been taken to the General Hospital Ifo. The second accident, which  reportedly  happened at about 10.30 am, claimed three lives at the place of the first accident.
When Saturday Vanguard visited the scene, one  chips seller at the junction told our Correspondent that, a tipper with Reg. Lagos No.
XW937 AGL had brake failure and rammed into a bus markedLagos  XT 708AAA. Accroding to her, three of the bus passengers, including two males and one female lost their lives on the spot while five others were said to be seriously injured.
The injured passengers were also taken to the General Hospital, Ifo and the remains of the deceased have  taken to the hospital morgue.
The Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bakare Adesina , confirmed the incident and death, and  attributed the two accidents to indiscriminate speeding.
He, therefore, charged all road users to be cautious while driving and also put their vehicles in good order before hitting the road.
