Goodluck Jonathan Has Failed Many People, Not Just Me –OBJ

When your godfather start telling you the same things that millions of Nigeria are saying - that you have not lived up to expectations as President - then you must check yourself immediately and ignore the sycophants around you who will always tell you what is sweet to your ears so they can continue to shop with you.

This is the situation President Goodluck Jonathan is, as his benefactor, ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo, who is known for saying his mind no matter who is affected, has declared that Jonathan is failing Nigerians.

Speaking on the State of the Nation on a TV interview, Obasanjo said Mr Jonathan lived in self-denial about the abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls for more than two weeks. He insisted that action is very unfortunate.‬‪
Obasanjo said: "The president did not believe that those girls were abducted for almost 18 days. If the president got the information within 12hours of the act and he reacted immediately, I believe those girls would have been rescued within 24 hours, maximum 48 hours."

‬He added that the president’s initial action was to ask: "Is this true, or is it a ploy by people who don’t want me to be president again?"

The respected former President considered this slow reaction from Jonathan as the “most unfortunate aspect of the whole issue” and the reason why those innocent girls are still with Boko Haram after over 40 days.‬
Obasanjo concluded his assessment of Jonathan's performance in office with this statement:‬ ‪“I don’t believe he has performed to the expectations of many Nigerians, not just me.

How Boko Haram Exposed Nigeria weakness

If a nation is at red alert, yet a terror group like Boko Haram strikes at will and ups the number of its victims, then such a country is obviously a cassava republic that cannot guarantee security of lives and property.

While Aso Rock makes noise about the determination of the government to bring back the abducted Chibok girls and also to finally thumb Boko Haram, the group continues to strike audaciously as it pleases – in Borno (four times, with the recent killing of forty soldiers and policemen), Kano and Plateau (twice).

It seems they want prove that this government has no clue of what it is talking about. Boko Haram wants to tell Nigerians that we live at their mercy. And that our so-called leaders are only making speeches – as usual.

Nigeria is now a laughing stock, especially among Africans, who had seen our country as a giant in the continent and had looked up to us for leadership. A Ghanaian, living in Berlin, had recently joked that they (Ghanians) never knew they were fearing Nigeria for nothing. „So we could have defeated Nigeria in war?“he had jested, due to the inability of the Nigeria State to deal with a little insurgency.

Though a war against terror is a different ballgame, the view of the Ghanaian might not necessarily be correct, nevertheless it is representative of how others see us at the moment.
The helplessness of our poorly trained and poorly equipped military (no thanks to corruption) to deal with a hitherto unknown terror group is a national embarrassment with international acclaim.

I felt sorry for President Goodluck Jonathan when he was corrected by the United States of America that Boko Haram has nothing to do with Al-qaeda. In their bid to mystify Boko Haram and excuse their inability to crush the group, Jonathan was misled by his intelligence chiefs into believing that Boko Haram is an offshoot of Al-qaeda. And he believed!

Nkem Chidebelu is a student of University of Jos. Her late mother, Monica Chidebelu, an orange seller at the Jos Terminal Market, threw all she got from peeling oranges into making sure her daughter does not end up like her. She sent her to the university to acquire education. While she studied, amid her numerous challenges as the daughter of an orange seller, her mother was her life-wire. Unfortunately, that wire was cut when Nkem's mother was sent to her early grave as terrorists bombed the Jos Terminal market last week.

Speaking to one of the national dailies, Nkem regretted that she was born a Nigerian. She could not understand why the Nigerian government, with the amount of resources at its disposal, can not protect the citizens.I understand Nkem's disenchantment and frustration. Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala recently revealed that defence takes almost a trillion of the budget.

During a press conference in Abuja last Friday, Okonjo-Iweala disclosed that  the Federal Government has released a total amount of N130.7bn to the Ministry of Defence for military operations between January and April this year. She also told journalists that in 2013, N281.51bn was allocated to the three security agencies (Army, Air Force and Navy) in Nigeria. This is almost $2billion US dollars.

Juxtaposed against the impunity with which Boko Haram is killing the citizens, one can only ask: where did this money go? If $2billion dollars were diligently spent in the fight against terror, surely Boko Haram would have been history. As I said on this platform recently, the country is in the mess it is because of depraved corruption. The defence budget has been seen over the years as a big cake to be shared by the top military brass and their collaborators in government.

The result is that we now live in a country that cannot actually be called a country since it is incapable of protecting its citizens. This is also why over 200 Chibok school girls, who thought they could pursue quietly their dreams by seeking education, were taken into bondage by Boko Haram (we should not forget the 59 school boys who were also butchered by the same group in February).

The lives of the Chibok girls got shattered, because like Nkem, they had the misfortune of being born citizens of one country called Nigeria. Whether Jonathan finds them as he promised, with international help, certainly their lives will never be the same again. If they ever return alive, they will forever live with the trauma of their ordeal in the captivity of Boko Haram.

Normally, people aspire to govern because they have a vision or a direction of where they want to take the country or people. But in Nigeria, people aspire to govern because they want to line up their pockets with public funds. This is a national tragedy. Our leaders, apart from being vision-less and clueless, are simply wicked people. They neither love the people nor their country. They never spare time to sit down and figure out what is good for the people and the country.

For them, leadership is a frolic and meeting at midnights to decide how to share the budget. A typical Nigerian leader would do everything to get money to maintain a permanent suite at Hilton Abuja for his girlfriend than to do the least that would benefit the shoeless boy in Otuoke. So is anyone still trying to figure out why we got where we are today?

Nigeria was not run how a normal country should be. The leaders were fooling the people (they foolishly failed to realize that they were in the same boat with the people). That foolishness left Nigeria a skeleton of a nation. Mindless corruption and bad governance reduced the nation to a bubble. Now, Boko Haram has burst that bubble.

Obasanjo Is Part Of Boko Haram Problem-Fawehinmi Declares

Son of late legal icon, Gani Fawehinmi, Muhammed Fawehinmi, has blamed former President Olusegun Obasanjo for being part of the Boko Haram problem faced in the country today. The junior Fawehinmi made this disclosure today, 31 May, 2014 while speaking on a live programme on LTV 8, Bimbo and Shola Connect.

Mr Fawehinmi stated that Obasanjo had during his administration ignored a warning issued by the Russian military intelligence over  the growth of some unknown fundamentalist building up in Sambisa Forest. He however added that the situation has deteriorated today with the abduction of more than 276 schoolgirls abducted by the Boko Haram insurgents at the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State on 14 April, 2014.

Mr Fawehinmi advised the Nigerian government led President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure the safety of the girls by negotiating with the terrorists in order to save their lives.“what matters most as of now is the safety of the missing girls. The Jonathan led government can release the prisoners as requested by Boko haram just to get the girls and then adopt other military measures in fighting the sect later,” he concluded.

According to report, Obasanjo met with people close to Boko Haram at his farm in Otta, Ogun State, last weekend in an attempt to find a solution to bring back the girls to their homes safely.
The meeting which was attended by relatives of some senior Boko Haram fighters as well as intermediaries focused on how to free the girls through negotiation.
Meanwhile, the federal government has insisted that they are not ready to negotiate with the Boko Haram militants on the kidnapped schoolgirls.

Oh No! : Teenager Who Was Gang-Rap*d, Then Tested HIV-Positive, Seeks Justice

19 year old girl Helen(Surname withheld) will be turning 20 in a few months time, on October 10th to be precise.

But Helen, bears a burden that is too heavy for her age. She was gang-r*ped in January this year and was diagnosed with HIV last month.

Due to the heart-rending experience and the medical diagnosis that followed, the once cheerful and vivacious Helen now wears a long face as she carries with her the psychological burden of the experience.

After secondary school in 2008, Helen wanted to further her education, but being the fifth of 11 children comes with its own challenge. “Na the condition of no money, na im prevent me from going further,” said Helen when asked why she had not bothered to continue her education.

Despite her background, Helen was unperturbed. Determined that she would return to school some day, she began working as a cleaner in a big firm at Lekki, Lagos, from where she hoped to save for school.

She had worked there for almost a year before the tragic episode that altered her life dramatically took place. It was with a deep emotion that she recounted her ordeal.

All was quiet and the street lonely early that Tuesday morning when the unsuspecting lady set out from her Bariga home to resume her morning shift at work. It was at exactly 5:05am, the same time she often left home everyday to board a bus some streets away to Lagos Island. But that morning, something was not right. She noticed five young men lurking about as she got out of her street’s gate. On seeing their fearsome appearance, her heart skipped a beat.

Consumed by fear, her first instinct was to turn and run back into the street, but it was too late. She had been spotted.

“They blocked and grabbed me. They pointed a gun at me and told me to be quiet and do everything they said I should do, or else they would harm me,” Helen said before she was overcome by emotion. After a short silence that seemed ages, she added: “I tried to shout but when I looked around and did not see anybody except those guys, I was so afraid and did as they said… They, then, carried me to one corner by the side of the street… (She bowed her head).

They asked me to lie down.” Helen went silent again with head still bowed, to hold back tears. She said: “I begged them to release me, that I was on my way to work and that I didn’t have anything to offer them. They told me to shut up, saying they would waste me, if I didn’t like my life. I begged them to spare my life.” Her plea touched a member of the gang; he said she should be freed. But his statement fell on deaf ears, for Helen’s other attackers were determined to carry out their task to the letter. Fighting back tears, she said: “The others said he could leave if he wanted to; they then collected my handbag, my purse and the N5,000 inside with my two phones – one was in my hand. I used its torchlight; the other was in my Jeans pocket. They removed the phone, pulled off my trousers and started violating me (Silence)…They asked me to pull off my clothes. I begged them.”

Her face became contorted as the agony of the incident swelled her being. Helen became silent again. One could see she was fighting to hide several conflicting emotions as she recounted. “But was there no way you could have shouted for help?” the reporter asked in an attempt to douse the tension. “There was no way I could have shouted because there were five of them against only me… I was so scared. So, I just kept begging them to release me.” As her attackers were beginning to enjoy their violent act, they spotted another young man and lady walking towards them. Helen’s attackers also pounced on the couple, robbing them of their valuables at gunpoint. Two of them also r*ped the second lady.

By that time, Helen’s eyes were already swollen, from her trauma and obvious helplessness in the hands of the crooks. The two men r*ped the girl while the other three continued r*ping me,” she said in a subdued voice. On how she felt when her violators had their turns, Helen, in tears, said: “I swallowed my scream, felt very bad and closed my eyes as each of them…(Silence). For my mind e be like say make I get knife take kill them, because it was a very painful thing to experience. Before they started, I had asked if they had condoms but they said ‘No’. ‘’

After they finished, all I could think of was running to the hospital and getting some drugs or treatment that could wash everything away from my whole being: my physical body, heart, soul and all. (Again, she lapsed into another silence). I felt very bad and, somehow, dirty.” After the incident She ran back home to her sister. Both ladies cried in silence; they felt ashamed to share with neighbours what had happened. As if that was not enough, while nursing the psychological trauma of the assault she got, another shocker happened to her on the same day. Helen discovered that her violators were her neighbours. “I recognised them: two of them live opposite my house. Before that time, I did not notice them. I see them every day and cringe; I’m always in fear each time I see them,” she said. Three months after Besides the traumatic r*pe, Helen has fallen into a worrisome medical condition. Last month, she was diagnosed with HIV at the General Hospital where she was rushed to after she was r*ped. Before then, Helen said she had been “negative”, adding that she knew through a test she did some time back. “When I went there when it first happened, they asked me some questions, gave me some drugs and told me to come back after three months for more tests.

The three-month period lapsed last month. The hospital did the followup test and found that I have become HIV-’positive’. ‘’I felt bad, very bad; and I cried. In fact, the doctor tried to calm my mind; but I kept on crying that ‘I’m finished’. I wanted to take my life because I never expected this to happen to me. They told me life still goes on and that I can still live my life to the fullest. They say people with HIV are can be healthier than those who are negative with the help of drugs. Before I left the hospital, I cried and begged them to help me because I did not plan to live on drugs for rest of my life,” she said. With tears dripping freely and looking straight at the reporter as if to find answers on her face, she continued: “What kind of life can one live now? I feel so bad; I feel so weak and I am asking myself: what did I do wrong in this life to deserve this? What will happen to my dream of going to school? I have not been able to save for school, and I now am treating HIV.”

The news of her status has added more sadness to her family who were still recovering from the shock of her violation. “When my parents heard the news, they were very sad and they all cried,” Helen said amid tears. The 20-year-old has since turned an advocate, seeking justice against her attackers. After living in fear for months, the dread of the rapists forced her and her sister to relocate last weekend.

The move has emboldened to seek for justice, feeling she is beyond their reach. “I want justice. I need help. I want those men to go to jail for what they did to me and perhaps many other ladies in the area. These people cannot be allowed to go free. Everybody knows them as thieves in the area; they do not go to work or school but just hang around all day doing nothing. Still nobody has done anything about it. It is almost as if they are using charms. Their father is a very aggressive landlord. I see them always and I’m always in fear; that’s why we packed out of the house last weekend. You won’t believe that till we packed, my attackers are still using my phone,” she said. Helen’s sister, Stella, who was also in her 20s, said the whole incident has left the family heart-broken. Stella, who learnt a comforting hand to her sister, said: “We felt so weak and very unhappy, but there is nothing else we can do but to support her and pray that those crooks would be made to pay and suffer for what they did to my sister.” Source

Former Prostitute, Sherifat Bakare Gets Arrested For Armed Robbery

Twenty-four-year-old Sherifat Bakare(pictured in the middle) who recently quit prostitution and joined the gang was arrested together with four accomplices by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Ogun State Police Command in Abeokuta on Wednesday, May 21.
According to Bakare, she was hustling before Raji, my boyfriend, when he asked her to join his gang a few weeks ago. Another gang member, Bola Onasile, (also in SARS custody) had approached her boyfriend about the availability of N70m in a wealthy man’s house in Joju area of Sango, Ogun State.
Sherifat Bakare stated that she only gone on two operations with them adding that she only knew that Onasile was the one who brought the job.
When Raji gathered other members, they snatched a car, a Nissan Quest, around Iwo Road, Ibadan which was used for the operation. But, their operation went wrong as police cornered them and Raji was shot dead.
Sherifat Bakare tells about her life before the gang
"I am from Idofian in Kwara State. My father is late but my mother lives in Ibadan. She has no idea I do this kind of job and she does not even know I am in police custody."
Bakare explained that she was a prostitute in Lekki where she was making up to N5,000 per day until about two years ago.
"I was living with a security guard in a house at Osborne in Ikoyi. The landlord of the house was out of the country. I was going from there to ‘hustle’ in Lekki every night.
"Raji was a good helper to me. That was why I decided to leave prostitution when he begged me. When he introduced me to armed robbery, I asked him if there would be no problem and he assured me that there would be none. When we started dating, I did not know he was an armed robber though."
The young lady said she learnt photography when she dropped out of secondary school but had not been able to practise the trade because she did not think she could make much money from it.
According to 36-year-old Onasile, who brought the N70m job, an acquaintance of his, a man named Tunde, informed him about the money.
Onasile who was a revenue collector for a local government council in Lagos before he lost the job said, “Tunde is like a brother to me. He told me the man we were going to rob was his relation. He said the man had N70m at home. I told him I had no boys who could do the job. But he was always disturbing me about getting a gang together to do the operation.
"Few days later, I informed Raji about the operation and he told me he could get boys for the job. We planned to sell the vehicle we snatched after the operation but we did not know how police got to know about the operation. Tunde ran away when the police were after us."
According to him, he got a job as a site thug getting assignments from land grabbers once in a while but the money was not coming as needed.
Meanwhile, a gang of robbers, who specialised in snatching motorcycles have been apprehended by the SARS in Ogun State after an under cover operation.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, more members of Bakare’s robbery gang are still out on the streets. He said investigation was still ongoing to ensure that they did not escape justice.
The wives of the gang members were also arrested because they admitted that they knew their husbands were robbers.

Fresh Concern Mounts For Chibok Girls As Boko Haram Run Out Of Food

Lately, Boko Haram group member have reortedly invaded a lot of villages close to Sambisa Forest in the North East in order to steal food items allegedly to feed the abducted girls.

In the past weeks, the Islamic terrorist group stepped up the looting of villages, markets and food stores in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states for food items including grains and bread, according to Saturday Punch investigations.

Residents of these communities disclosed that the insurgents were usually satisfied when communities raised money for them towards "God’s work," but lately they had stepped up their activities by invading the villages and carting away food items.

With the pressure on Nigerian soldiers to clamp down on the Islamic sect, it was learnt that the insurgents no longer felt safe to go to markets to buy food items for fear of being arrested.

Some of the insurgents recently met their waterloo in Madagali, Adamawa State, where they were given up by a local food vendor from whom they had planned to buy foodstuffs. Reportedly, members of a vigilance group pounced on them and killed over 70 of them while seven others were handed over to the police.

Residents of Limankara, Kamuyya, Kirenowa, Kimba and Makor communities in Borno State said the insurgents usually carried away food items and livestock after killing people in their areas in recent attacks.

The scenario of these attacks are always the same. The heavily armed terrorists invade the village, open fire into the crowd killing innocent residents, start burning houses, shops and vehicles and stealing foodstuff.

During these endless attacks, dozens of people were killed as the hoodlums were well armed with sophisticated weapons.

In Kamuyya village, Borno state, a resident, Bukar Umar, said over 20 insurgents, who must have emerged from the bush, stormed the Kamuyya weekly market when traders were conducting their businesses and opened fire into the crowd before setting shops and vehicles on fire. Twenty people were killed on the spot and almost all the shops were burnt in the market.

The insurgents on Sunday intercepted a vehicle loaded with bread, killed the four occupants and drove the vehicles towards Sambisa Forest. The vehicle, which was on its way to Polka from Gwoza, was attacked at Waraba village.

Recently, Nigerian journalist, Ahmad Salkida, who is trusted by both the Federal Government and the Boko Haram leader as a mediator, allegedly visited the camp where the abducted schoolgirls were being kept.

According to Sakilda, who claimed to have seen the abducted schoolgirls, they are "well fed and adequately sheltered."
It was gathered during the week that the insurgents resorted to stealing following the shortage of food to feed themselves and their hostages.

It was also learnt that the violent sect had begun to pile up food items in preparation for a long drawn battle with the military, especially as the United States, United Kingdom, France, Israel and other foreign collaborators are assisting the Federal Government to ensure the safe return of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls.

With the allied forces believed to be on the ground to help the Nigerian military rescue the girls, it was learnt that the insurgents did not want to be caught unawares by running out of strategic resources, especially food.

Unconfirmed reports had indicated that certain helicopters used to drop food items and other needs in the Sambisa stronghold of the Boko Haram group.

Security experts said the growing focus on the Sambisa forest must have disrupted the routine of the helicopters, thus putting pressure on the group’s supply chain and fueling more attacks on villagers in the North-Eastern region. Source

Earlier today, it was reported that some hoodlums, suspected to be members of the Islamist militants group, invaded the convoy of dignitaries going for the funeral of the late Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Shehu Abubakar and made attempt to abduct some of the Emirs in the entourage.

According to report, gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram sect have taken over some villages in Gwaram LGA of Jigawa state.

The terrorists were also reported to have closed down over 30 primary and secondary schools warning people to desist from western education.

A chief in the area yesterday told reporters that Gwaram residents have informed security agencies of the latest development. The source further said that Boko Haram terrorists have taken over the area.

They are now recruiting youths at Gwani village of Gwaram paying them N50,000 monthly salary. The new recruits were also given brand new motorcycles.

“They have captured villages around the area and even warned the villagers to stop going to western education schools, viewing centres and any other social events,”. “They have taken over the area since around February of this year; residents complied because they threatened to burn their houses if they did not obey their order”. – the source said

The source further stated that the terrorists, who number over 1,000 and are armed with sophisticated weapon, are normally transported into Bolmo area in trucks, and have informers among the residents who are reporting to them the presence of any stranger in the area.

How Boko Haram Paid Me N2,000 To Burn Houses – Chibok Boy Reveals

If N2000(less than £10) can be used to motivate a youth to burn houses, then the security issues in Nigeria might linger for a long time to come. Leaders steal money that would have been used to provide quality jobs, good education etc for the youth, then stranded youth then commit crimes just to make ends meet. That's the pitiable circle we have in Nigeria.
A young man in Borno is said to have confessed that he was paid by Boko Haram members to burn houses in a village in the state.
Ibrahim Tilitili, an indigene of Chibok, where over 200 girls were abducted, said that he was paid N2,000 to burn down a few houses at Mandara Girau village in the Biu Local Government Area of the state.
Ibrahim allegedly confessed that he received the money from one Mallam Sani who told him to burn the houses.
Nigerian Eye reports:
According to residents of the village, Ibrahim had succeeded in setting ablaze three houses and scare the people of the village who started running for their lives to safe heaven before some brave young men pounce on him, when they realized, it was a lone attack.
On realizing that, he was somebody they know in the village, they wanted to killed him, but some elders intervene and he was arrested and taken to Sarkin Baka- renown hunter in Biu town, where he made confession that, he was actually paid by Mallam Sani who is also resident of the village to set those houses ablaze.
Our Correspondent learnt that, after he was interrogated by Vigilante leader (Sarkin Baka) in Hausa language and made the confession, he led the men who arrested him to his paid master, who was also arrested and handed over to police in Biu town.

President Goodluck Jonathan Explains The Difficulty Of Making A 30-Year Old A Minister In Nigeria

During an interactive live session marking Democracy Day at the International Conference center, President Jonathan said he has no reservations about appointing a youth as a Minister but said the elders must be around to guide the youth in carrying out the responsibilities of a Minister. He said young people need the experiences of the elders to pilot the affairs of Nigeria.

"You talk about mentors. I'm not saying youths cannot do certain jobs. anybody from the age of 25 and above can do any job. I remember when Rivers state was created, I was a Rivers man before Bayelsa state was created. The first Rivers state Military Governor Diete Spiff was about 28years old when he was appointed the military Governor of Rivers state. Gowon when he became Head of State was about 33years old so my Governor and the Head of State were youths but they worked with elders because I remember the cabinet members of Rivers state then were very matured people working with Diete Spiff and that is why I remember one of our elders, Maitama Sule when he was speaking at the University of Port Harcourt, made the statement that young breed without the old breed will breed greed so you must mix. The best person to take care of a child may not be a child so you need somebody with some level of experience to mentor the youths. You cannot leave the teenagers there to get into the youth age before you mentor them. Start from them and the first person to mentor a young person is someone that has made some mistakes.

Let us say a young lady, while in secondary school have affairs with a man and gets pregnant and had complications and couldn't graduate when her colleagues graduated. Along the line, she finds her path and goes back to the secondary school, completes her University. She can tell another young girl look this is my experience. Please don't go that way, see this is my experience. So a Minister of Youth development can be a very young person, anybody of 25years and above can manage that but the key thing is that in the cabinet we have only one youth. There is nothing wrong in making a 30-33 year old Minister of Petroleum or Finance if he/she is competent enough." Source: LindaIkeji

Tragedy struck on Tuesday 27th May, at the Abuja home of former Police Affairs Minister Ibrahim Yakubu Lame as his two young children suffocated to death in a locked car.

Two-year-old Farida, who was Dr. Lame’s daughter, and her 1-year-old cousin Isah Abubakar Tahir died after being trapped for over an hour playing in one of the cars parked in the house.

The grieving fathers of the children, Dr. Lame and Abubakar Isah Tahir narrated to Daily Trust what happened. Farida’s father, who discovered the bodies, said it happened around 1.30 pm on Tuesday.

“The house driver came back around 1.30pm and when the children saw him while they were playing in the compound pleaded with him to take them out for a drive. The driver, who wanted to put them off, told them not to worry and should let him pray and come back, so while he left to pray, they decided to enter the car. Farida my daughter was two years old and Sabir (Isah’s alias) her cousin was one year old, so they got into the car.”

He explained that unfortunately the car has ‘child lock mechanism,’ which was on, so there was no way they could open the car from the inside, because it locks automatically.

“Nobody noticed they were inside. Initially he told them he was going to pray but had no intention of coming back, and after his prayer he started sleeping,” Lame said

By the time he discovered them after more than one hour of their being in the car, they were already dead.

But I decided to rush them to the hospital,” Lame said. They were confirmed dead at a hospital in Gwarinpa." Source: Lailasblog

Opposition Parties Are The Cause Of Insecurity In Nigeria - Labaran Maku Explains

Minister of Information, Labaran Maku yesterday May 28th said Nigerians should blame the opposing political parties for the rising insecurity in the country.

The minister made this statement while addressing newsmen after the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja.

"If you go back to the #bringbackourgirls campaign, 90% of those organizing it belong to a political party. Has the media ever analyzed this? And yet the insurgency is operating only in states controlled by that party.

The entire money we are spending is to maintain security in the states operated by that party, so why go out and start playing politics? We are busy spending money to maintain security in those states, what have they done about it? Because 90% of all the insurgency is in those states controlled by that political party,  90% of those campaigning to bring back the girls are members of that party. Because the media would look the other way. I think if we want this country to grow, we must ask the relevant questions,'' he concluded. Source: LindaIkeji
