The park is a popular bus terminus from which many people travel to other parts of the country. The explosion which occurred in the afternoon led to the closure of activities in Sabon Gari where the park is located, and one of Kano busiest areas.
An eye witness, Sani Usman, said they heard a deafening sound and people began to run in different directions. Some initially began to explain that it was a tyre of a car that exploded but a man coming from the direction of the motor park said it was an explosion and that two people were slightly injured.
When Daily Trust went to investigate, all roads linking to New Road had been cordoned off by the police and the residents around the area were visibly shaken as armed men in uniform and mufti keep sending away.
Traders and shop owners closed their businesses.
An ambulance belonging to the Kano state Government House was also spotted coming out from the scene but the number of casualties was not ascertained.

A resident who gave his name as Charles said he was standing along Airport road when the incident happened and a woman who came running said that a man was believed to have attempted boarding a bus but his bag raised suspicions and later exploded.
A medical personnel who operates a clinic nearby also confirmed that two persons were brought to him with injuries and that he referred them to a General Hospital because he wants to remain anonymous.
A reliable police source who did not want to be named confirmed the incident but said the anti bomb squad were working to unravel the facts behind the incident and that as soon as the issue is sorted out they will make more details available.
