LASTMA officials to turn reporters

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday began a two- day training on news reporting for 120 officials of the Lagos State Traffic management Authority (LASTMA). The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Kayode Opeifa, declared the training open at Eko FM/ Radio Lagos Multipurpose Hall, Agindingbin.

He said that the training was to ensure that the officials were conversant with news writing in preparation for the take off of Lagos Traffic Radio (LTR). Opeifa said that when the Traffic Radio commenced operation, motorists would have opportunity to have first hand information on transportation and traffic news, traffic alerts and diversions, while they drove or before leaving their homes.

He said that in case of accidents, information which would enable motorists to avoid such routes would be broadcast and information on alternative routes given. The commissioner advised the officials to concentrate during the training and be of good conduct so that at the end of the training, they would be part of the pioneer staff of the station.

Opeifa commended the officials s for the laudable achievements which LASTMA had recorded and urged them not to relent in the discharge of duties, especially as other states were establishing similar agencies. He advised them to take the training back to the road by giving a helping hand to motorists, who were in serious need of assistance.
