Those who are interested in the case may have begun to lose interest in the murder case before Mrs. Demi Ajayi of the Yaba Magistrate Court,Lagos.
Akolade Arowolo was only arraigned on a one-count charge of murder on July 8,2011.
This loss of interest was evident by the scanty audience at the last two hearings held on Friday,September 9 and Wednesday,October 26,2011.
The major people in the court were judiciary correspondents. Not even a non-governmental organization(NGO) was around or civil society group. The case was originally at Court 2,Yaba but due to the on-going renovation,it has temporarily moved to Oyingbo axis of the metropolis.
On Friday,September 9,2011,counsels to the defendant and plaintiff were present but the suspect,Akolade Arowolo didn’t show up.His lawyer,Barrister Vincent Obiadoyi said that his client went through surgical operation in Lagos University Teaching Hospital(LUTH),Idi-Araba,Lagos contrary to the report that he attempted suicide in prison.
The case was eventually adjourned till October 26.
On Wednesday,October 26,2011,at exactly 2:15pm,neither the suspect,Akolade Arowolo, nor his counsel were in court.
The Magistrate,Mrs.Dem Ajayi insisted that the Directorate of Public Prosecutions(DDP)’s advice would not be read in the absence of the suspect, adjourning the case till next week
