A retired Police Commissioner, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has described the decision to approve new uniform for the police as “wasteful and senseless project.”
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar, on Tuesday disclosed that President Goodluck Jonathan had approved a new camouflage operational dress for the police.
Tsav, who spoke in an interview in Makurdi yesterday, said the change would neither reform the police nor reduce corruption.
“Someone just wants to make his money through police new uniform project. It is senseless s. it’s another way of ripping the police,“ he said.
He said what was needed was the recruitment of right caliber of young men and women, training and provision of working equipment as well as enhanced salaries and allowances.
