Father, son in court for alleged burglary

The police yesterday in Lagos arraigned a father and his son for allegedly burgling the apartment of one Issac Akpan and stealing items worth N175,000. The accused, Wilson Eka, 60, and his son, Anietie Ekanem, 28, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing before the Somolu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos. 

They, however, pleaded not guilty and were each granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The prosecutor, ASP Akinlabe Adegoke, said that the duo allegedly stole one refrigerator, a television set, a standing fan and a DVD player from Akpan’s apartment. 

He added that the accused also stole the sum of N100,000 cash on Sept. 15, 2011, from Akpan’s house at No. 1, Humani St., Somolu, Lagos. Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi adjourned the case till May 6 for substantive trial. (NAN)
