Kidnapped Imo ex-speaker yet to regain freedom

Former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Godfrey Dikeocha, who was kidnapped by gunmen about a month and half ago is yet to be released. Dikeocha was abducted by armed men from his Oke Uvuru country home in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of the state on March 9, 2012 few minutes after he held a meeting with some political leaders from the area.

The embattled ex-speaker was elected as the sole delegate for the just concluded Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention at Abuja for Aboh Mbaise State Constituency. But, it was not clear whether the PDP in the state replaced his name since he was still held captive.

Daily Sun gathered that his abductors, who had earlier opened communication with his family, demanded N20 million ransom. The father-in-law of the former speaker, Justice Michael Eziri, who allegedly died as a result of shock over the abduction of his son-in-law was buried at the weekend at Ezeoke Nsu in Ehimme Mbano LGA of the state.
