2015 Presidency: What Tinubu Discussed With Buhari

“As you know, our last experience has shown that late commencement of alliance affected the success among the opposition. This time around two political leaders, Buhari and Tinubu, have agreed to work together to defeat PDP in 2015.” A stakeholder, who attended the strategic meeting between the leadership of the ACN led by Bola Tinubu and that of the CPC led by Gen. Muhammadu Buhari which took place in Kaduna on Thursday night, said.

Insider sources told newsmen that the deliberations went well and even surpass the expectations of many of those present. The next line of action is said to be the choice of who (and who) would fly the flag of the new party (ANC and CPC becoming one) in the 2015 presidential election as well as those to man sensitive positions in the party.

The CPC is still hoping to have the Buhari/Bakare (Muslim/Christian) ticket, while the ACN is proposing a change that will see them produce one of the the candidates (no conclusions on the issue yet). The position of National Secretary is another wahala as Mr. Lai Mohammed is being favour by the ACN while the CPC is pushing for the former Minister of FCT, Mallam Nasir El-rufai.

The source further disclosed to newsmen that "there will be more meetings of the 'boys' in the months ahead, after which the General and Asiwaju will meet again to appraise the decisions". Speaking after the meeting, Tinubu said both parties are working for a positive change in 2015.

“We are working for a positive change in 2015. We don’t want to perpetually be in opposition as every politician wants the opportunity to govern... as politicians we discussed in general the situation in the country and how we can help ameliorate the problems,” he disclosed.
