To avoid loss of worshippers and regular members over the ongoing divorce mess involving Pastor Chris Okotie of the Household of God Church and his estrange wife, members of the church have been barred from discussing the pastor’s domestic life, either in secret or openly.
Newsmen gathered that the members were warned to respect the pastor’s decision to end his four year old marriage, considering the portion of the Bible that urged Christians to “get rid of the finger that could lead them to hell.”
A source said that members were told to stop discussing the issue because of its perceived implication to their faith. The warning came as a follow up to the press release on Monday by the pastor’s spokesman, Ladi Ayodeji, in which future references to Okotie's marital problem was fore-closed.
The announcement about the pastor’s separation from Stephanie Henshaw, a mother of three, came to the congregation as a shock, as they did not have an inkling of what had been happening in their Pastor's home until last Sunday when the issue was revealed in church.
