Militant group Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the killing of a former Nigerian Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police, Abubakar Saleh Ningi, in Kano.
“Yesterday God gave us victory and we succeeded in killing a former DIG in Kano city,” the sect said in an email statement to reporters on Wednesday.
The group also vowed to carry out more of such killings of senior government officials in the days ahead. “By God’s grace very soon top government officials will have no peace as we will intensify attacks on them wherever they are,” the statement added.
It would be recalled that two gunmen on a motorcycle shot dead the retired, his driver and a police aide in Kano on Tuesday.
