Youths attack PDP chieftain

YOUTHS suspected to be thugs of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), on Wednesday, attack a former deputy chairman of Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and state auditor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Yahaya Bunu, at Awe town. His car was damanged by the youth, who equally inflicted some degrees of injuries on him, as he was currently on admission at Awe hospital.

Bunu was at Awe, headquarters of Awe Local Government Area, for the commencement of the PDP campaign for the July 7 bye election into the seat of Awe North state constituency, which became vacant following the death of Honourable Yakubu Faransa last month. He told the Nigerian Tribune in an interview on his sick bed through telephone that he was attacked when he went to pick his sister in-law at the palace of the Emir of Awe, Alhaji Abubakar Umar, shortly after the end of the rally.

The state PDP chairman, Mr Yunanna Iliya, speaking with the Newsmen through phone, condemned the attack and described it as inhuman. The spokesman of the state police command, Cornelius Ocholi, confirmed the attack, adding that though the police could not identify the perpetrators, investigation into the attack had commenced.
