Speaker of the House of Represen-tatives Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has described as embarrassing the recent ratings of Nigeria by the Transparency International as the world’s 35th most corrupt country in its 2012 report.
Speaking when he received in audience members of the Anti-Corruption Network led by its Executive Secretary, Dino Melaye, in Abuja yesterday, Tambuwal said the Federal Government was not ready because “we are behaving as if it is not a problem, we seem to be condoning it.
If we talk in the parliament some people will not want it then how are we going to address this major challenge?” Speaking earlier, Melaye called on the House to remove immunity clause from the constitution, remove the powers of the President to appoint heads of anti-corruption agencies.
