Law enforcement officials arrested a JFK Airport worker for the theft of about $1.9 million [about 315 million naira] in iPads, according to reports.

An airport worker has been accused of being the mastermind behind the theft of $1.9 million in iPad minis from JFK Airport, according to court documents.

Federal agents were able to catch Renel Rene Richardson after allegedly making suspicious inquiries to coworkers about the shipping and freight containing the iPads, according to court documents.

The iPads were stolen Monday using a forklift at the airport.

Richardson allegedly had two helpers in the robbery in the Air Cargo Services building, where he also worked, according to a criminal complaint filed in federal court in Brooklyn, New York.

Richardson has acted as a lookout, according to court documents. The other unidentified criminals loaded two pallets of the tablet computers into a truck and drove away after another employee confronted them, the sources said.

Port Authority detectives learned of Richardson's alleged questions about the iPads and the forklift after talking with his co-workers.

After the FBI arrested him, Richardson accompanied the detectives of the Port Authority on Wednesday night while searching Long Island for the truck containing the iPads, police sources said.
