Omokoh Orowo Jesse, the alleged Nigerian fraudster who was arrested for scamming a 67-year old Australian grandmother, Jette Jacobs of $90,000, was today June 4th arraigned before an Oyo State High Court, Ibadan, on a 9-count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretense.
Jette, met Jesse on an online dating site, was found dead in her hotel room in February 2013 five days after meeting with Jesse. Jesse disappeared after her death but was caught almost a year after in Lagos in a raid.
Although Jesse is currently not being held for her death.
Count one of the charge against Jesse reads: “Omokoh Orowo Jesse, Ifeanyi Oro (still at large), Emojewe (still at large) and David (still at large) sometime in 2012 at Ibadan within the Ibadan Judicial Division with intent to defraud conspired to obtain the sum of $70,000 from one Jette Jacobs, a 67-year-old Australian woman under the false pretense that the money represents payment for marriage engagement processes between you and her in Nigeria and which pretense you knew was false”.
Jesse pleaded not guilty to all nine charges read against him. The judge declined bail and Jesse was remanded at the Agodi Prison until July 10th 2014 for the next hearing. Source
