| Prophet Joshua's prophecy was very popular |
This article can also be tagged the death of prophecies in Nigeria. I am always of the opinion that men of God are too partisan, they should stop abusing God's name with their clever, intelligent but fake prophecies. Predicting the outcome of a future election the way they went about it has got so many negatives than positives for the country, the politicians and for Christianity at large. Some of the downside includes;
1. Since almost all prophecies profited PDP and President Goodluck Jonathan, PDP politicians may have been relaxed with their campaign strategy, afterall God said they would win.In a country where people hold tightly to prophecy, this can really raise false hopes or kill the strong enthusiasm of the opposition.
2. With their guess work,they bring doubt to our 'Sacred' faith. We all know God cannot fail and cannot lie, prophesying wrongly has negative consequences for our faith. We cannot continue to honor pastors who prophesy wrongly, they could be leading God's people astray and raising question marks about their calling. We have heard pastors say, God told them they will be President of this great country, and after a while, they wake from their dream and face actual reality.Mostly, it turns out to be just their own prophesy concerning their lives but one thing they forget is that, they are gradually ruining the trust we have for God's prophecy.
3. The future is supposed to be unsure and those who want to succeed at anything should work hard. Prophesying defeats this purpose and makes people want to cut corners and become complacent.
I want to stress that Christians are the ones putting pressures on their men of God to be soothsayers or magicians and such practices will continue to have strong devastating effect on our lives and our faith .
Christianity is respected for many virtues like peace, love, positive thinking/creativity and prosperity, let's embrace what it promises us generally rather than expecting the unknown from men who just wants to be famous, rich and respected.

Man is not God and cannot tell tomorrow and prayers does not win elections when governance is bad. Let us all speak the truth and be set free because time may be slow but it does justify everything under the sun.
