Story Of The Year!!! Wished Someone Did This For The Victims Of Aluu4 (MUST READ)

In 1996, something pretty amazing happened in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Please read the story and be blown away. It is a story of courage and kindness that is still inspiring people 16 years later. Wish something similar had happened during Aluu4 attack. Read story below:

17 Knights of White Supremacist Organization, the Ku Klux Klan, held a rally on the second floor of a City Hall in Ann Arbor, Michigan on June 22, 1996, fully clothed in hate robes. And just outside in the street were 300 angry anti-KKK protesters who wanted the KKK to know they weren’t welcome. In the midst of the protestors, majority black, someone spotted a middle-aged white man wearing a Confederate t-shirt. Through his clothes and “SS” tattoo, it appeared that he was a white supremacist though he was not a member of the Klan. Once his presence was made known, the angry protesters chased him down and began to beat him in the streets, with one yelling “Kill the Nazi”.

The man is seen running from the protesters in this gripping photo. Just over his shoulder in the USA shirt is Keshia Thomas.

Among those protesters was an 18 year old high school girl named Keshia Thomas. That’s when things went from violent to a kind of heroism that will give you goosebumps.

While there were policeman with gas masks and riot gear protecting the Klansman who wore full garb on the other side of the fence, there was no one protecting the man who chose to stand on the same side as the protestors to observe, while he wore a symbol that represented racism on his shirt.

The mob caught up with him, surrounded him, and proceeded to kick him and beat him.

That’s when Keshia had enough.

She covered his body with her own, screaming for the mob to stop beating him

They listened and, in tears, she held the racist man in her arms. The man that hated her for the colour of her skin, and nothing else.

This is the photo that the whole world was talking about in 1996. And we should be talking about it today too. Keshia’s actions are inspiring.

Days after this took place, when asked about her actions, Keshia said, “I knew what it was like to be hurt. The many times that that happened, I wish someone would have stood up for me. Nobody deserves to be hurt, especially not for an idea.”

Keshia never heard from the man after that day, but she said months later, someone walked up to her in a coffee shop and said thanks. When she asked why, he said the man she saved was his father.

Everyone needs to be a little more like Keshia. Please share this story with others. It would have taken just one courageous person to fight for the innocent Aluu4 victims but in a country where nobody cares for the next person, these boys died along with their innocence but i believe someday lessons from their death will stir great boldness in us.

ALUU 4 update: Four Suspects Granted Bail

 

An update on one of the most tragic events last year, A high court sitting in Port Harcourt this morning October 17th granted bail to four out of the twelve persons facing trail in the murder case of the four Uniport students.

 

 The four are: Omoikiri Aluu monarch: Alhaji Welewa, Okoghiroh Endurance, Ozioma Abajuo and Chigozie Evans Samuel.

 

Presiding Judge, Justice Letan Nyordee granted them bail on grounds that their offense is not a capital offense and is bailable. They were granted bail of N2 million with two sureties and the court asked the sureties to submit their passports.

 

The sureties must also have landed property in Port Harcourt and must show means of livelihood and evidence of paying tax for two years. The other eight suspects were refused bail due to the murder charges against them.

The court also admitted the photographs negatives and the Youtube CD of the incident tendered as exhibits in the matter

REMEMBRANCE: RIP Aluu4

Today is exactly one month UNIPORT students -Tekena, Ugonna, Chiadika, and Ilyod were brutally murdered in the Aluu community. 

They were probably still alive by 7:40 this morning a month ago, but nobody in the community was interested in saving the lives of these innocent boys. We are still awaiting justice for them! Rest in peace, guys!

UNIPORT 4: ALUU 4: UNIPORT Is Not Safe For Varsity Education, The Villagers Don't Like Students

A US-based Nigerian actor and movie producer, Pascal Atuma has accused villagers of Aluu community of being hostile to students of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT). He stated that the community has never liked the students.

He alleged that the incident of the Aluu brutal killing of four UNIPORT students recently didn't start today but a long time ago. Atuma made this known through his Facebook wall. He gave his near death experience while a Student Union Chairman of Nelson Mandela Hall ( Choba Campus) in 1995.

According to him, "The only people that are surprised with the killing of 4 University of Port-Harcourt students in Nigeria are the people that did not go to school there.

"I attended UNIPORT from 1991-1995. I am not surprised at all or shocked, and I refused to watch the video because it will bring back very bad memories.

"The villagers never ever liked the students, they were very hostile to the students when I was a student there. I remember clearly the students riot of 1995, when the police came in and opened fire on the students, then I was the Students Union Chairman of Nelson Mandela Hall ( Choba Campus).

"They shot one of my hall members (Ebenezar- I remember his name clearly) who was running from class to get back to the hall for safety. As the chairman, I was forced to put my life on the line. I walked out of the hostel, raised my hands in surrender, came out and begged the police to stop shooting.

"They told me to ask the students in my hall to peacefully vacate the hostel in 2 hours or else they will start shooting again.

"I went back in, called all our hall members together and told everyone to vacate asap, and I remember students just running for their lives, I was the last person to leave.

"The school was closed that day, and Ebenezar and one other student who was also shot later died, they didn't make it. I never did go back to UNIPORT again after that day. That was my last taste and memory of the school called University of Port-Harcourt, Nigeria.

"Main point of my story is that the killing of students in UNIPORT did not start today, it's been there for a long time now. I am a LIVING WITNESS, I saw it and I lived it!!

"UNIPORT is not a safe place to attend the University in Nigeria, not at all, the history is there, and it will never be. SORRY. May the soul of the four students rest in peace!"

ALUU4!!! Sergeant Involved In the Killing Dismissed,Faces Prosecution

Nigerians are beginning to see Judgement coming on board against the killers of the UNIPORT Students.Infact,Bloggers deserves multiple national awards...lol...Anyway,the death of the undergraduates students of the University of Porthacourt has led to the dismissal of a sergeant of the Nigerian police force who gave the order that the Mob kill the suspected students by members of the Aluu Community.

Mr. Frank Mba, the force Public Relations officer today, Wednesday the 17th of October 2012 in an interview monitored Channels TV Sunrise Daily said the Sergeant dismissed from the police known as Lucky Orji is among the 13 persons to be charged to court today ; the dismissed policeman alongside was said to have stumbled upon the angry mob beating the students, Mba said.

The officers were not even sent to the scene, he went on his own, outside the code of conduct and professional ethics of the job. One was professional to ask the mob to stop and the other asked them to continue, the police P.R.O noted as such as parts of its internal cleansing in which the police force engages the officer has been relieved of his duties and is to be prosecuted.

He said the fact that the police is prepared to prosecute the officer, is a measure of its resolve to put an end to all forms of impunity in the Nigerian Police

The PRO officer said mob attacks is not peculiar to Nigeria, “it’s something we must work together to review, Nigerians must not be quick to heap the blame on the police alone’’. He insisted that, like every other parastatal an agencies in the country, the police force is not exempted from persons with questionable characters

“If you recruit an officer, the person carries the family value around; we need reorientation from the families and to the various worship centres. “We must look at the content our mass media is dishing out, we have to review all this” Mba.

UNIPORT K**ling: Runaway kingpin, Coxson nabbed

Aftermath of Police disclosure Monday, that two prime suspects in the gruesome murder of four University of Port Harcourt Students through a mob action were on the run, Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, Tuesday broke the cheering news that the two prime suspects have been arrested in Port Harcourt.

Though he declined to give their names, a statement that emanated from his office on Monday giving an update of investigations into the k*lings had noted that one Coxson Lelebori Lucky who was the architect of the crises that led to the killing of the students, was on the run and that the Police was on his trail.

His statement on Coxson read, “Findings have revealed that the victims had gone to the area where they met their unfortunate death earlier that morning to demand for money allegedly owed to them by Coxson Lelebori Lucky, alias ‘Bright’, who raised a false alarm that the victims were armed robbers. Although, Coxson has gone underground, Detectives are on his trail”.

Police Confirms Aluu4 Were Set Up

 The murder of four University of Port Harcourt students by a mob in Aluu community in Rivers State has so far been justified by some people who believed the victims were actually criminals, but a statement by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar has confirmed one of the stories we’ve heard about what went down in Aluu community the day the four UNIPORT students were murdered.

In a statement yesterday where the IGP excused the police’s non-intervention in the murder despite getting to the scene on time, he said the victims were not robbers, but they were set up by a man named Coxson Lelebori Lucky who was owing one of the victims an undisclosed sum of money.

Reports say 21 suspects have already been arrested by the police.Now that it has been confirmed that the victims were not robbers and one of them was actually owed, how do you plead for justifying their murder?

Police declares Coxson Lelebori Lucky wanted for Aluu killings, arrests 21

The Nigerian Police Force has declared wanted the alleged master minder of the killing of four students of the University of Port-Harcourt students on the 5th of October 5th 2012 in Aluu, Rivers state.

Identifying the alleged master-mind of the mob action as Mr Coxson Lelebori Lucky, the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Frank Mba, confirmed that the wanted man is on the run.

He however noted that the police is gradually closing in on him.The police spokesman further announced that 21 suspects have been arrested and are now in police custody for their involvement in the killing.

The new arrests according to the Mr Mba were made from the videos of the incidence and intelligence of the Nigerian Police Force.

He also noted that the Inspector-General of Police has also ordered an inquest into the alleged involvement of police officers and will bring to book anyone found wanting.

He urged Nigerians to continue to assist the police with any intelligence concerning the killings and other security challenges in the country.

UNIPORT Four: VC confirms Tekena as student

VICE Chancellor of University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Prof. Joseph Ajienka, has confirmed that Tekena Erikena, who was k**lled alongside three others at Omuokiri-Aluu community, penultimate Friday, was a student of the university.

He said, weekend, that the university later found out that he registered for a certificate programme.
The Vice Chancellor said initially, the university could only confirm three of the four killed as students of the university, adding that effort was later made to ascertain if the late Tekena, who did a basic programme with the university, was later admitted to any formal programme.

The others killed were Ugona Obuzor, year II Geology student;  Biringa Lordson,  year II Theatre Arts student and  Mike Toku, year II Civil Engineering student.

Vanguard gathered that Dr. Andrew Efemini, Head of Department of Philosophy in the University, has been removed from office. Sources at the university said Dr. Efemini was removed  for allegedly identifying with the students in last Tuesday’s protest over the killing of their colleagues.

Centre for Environment Human Rights and Development, CEHRD, has condemned his removal and called on the university to immediately reinstate the lecturer as Head of Department.

CEHRD, in a statement by Stephen Obodoekwe, called on government to bring killers of the four students to book.

He said: “We consider the arbitrary removal of the respected social justice crusader as unjust and condemnable as it is a direct attack on freedom of association and expression, as well as an attack on academic freedom. We condemn the removal without reservations. It is unimaginable that anybody could be victimized, punished or reprimanded for protesting the callous and barbaric killing of four students of the university, a barbaric act, which had been and is still being greeted by public condemnations and outcries.”

ALUU4:Community Denies Involvement In Death, Demand Release Of Monarch

Seven days after four students of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) were killed by an irate mob in Aluu in Ikwere local government area of Rivers State, the community yesterday broke its silence on the matter. 

The community denied that its members were involved in the incident and demanded the immediate release of its detained traditional ruler, Alhaji Hassan Welewa. The people warned that they would not fold their hands against any further destruction of their community and the infliction of pains on them.They urged security agencies to take note of plans to attack Aluu community by some ethnic groups whose sons were victims of the mob action. 

Spokesman of Aluu Garshon Benson, who disclosed this during a media briefing attended by the chairman, Aluu Council of Chiefs, Richard Kalu, called for the release of the detained traditional ruler. Benson also called on security agencies to stop the harassment and arrests of innocent Aluu natives and urged the outfits to carry out a thorough investigation of the gruesome murder of the students and bring the culprits to book. 

 He said: “It has come to our notice that some ethnic groups in the state whose sons were among those murdered on our soil are threatening to attack Aluu. We really sympathise with them for the loss of their children and reiterate that no Aluu man has a hand in their death.

 “We implore them to allow security agencies to fish out the actual killers of their sons, but also warn strongly that we will no longer fold our arms and watch further destruction of our communities and the infliction of pains and injuries on the good and law-abiding people of Aluu clan.”

UNIPORT STUDENT K**LL*NGS:The Police Laughed and Ordered The Mob To Burn Them Alive

A sister of one of the four University of Port Harcourt students brutally murdered last Friday in Umuokiri village, Aluu, Rivers State, has narrated how her younger brother and his friends were lynched.Miss Ibisobia Elkanah, elder sister of Tekena Friday Elkanah, revealed yesterday that policemen visited the scene where the students were burnt to death after they were severely injured and that one of the law enforcement agents told the perpetrators of the dastardly act “to burn them alive”



The murdered students, Chiadika Lordson, Ugonna Kelechi Obusor, Mike Lloyd Toku, and Tekena Elkanah, all part two students, were murdered in cold blood over alleged theft of a laptop computer and a blackberry phone. Ibisobia, a part-time final year student of Marketing, at the same university who witnessed the incident, said on that fateful day, at about 7.30 am, she was at the house of her girl friend in the community when she heard people shouting outside. “I dashed out and beckoned on my friend to come since she lived in the area.

They said they were asking them questions, so that they could know their senders.” She said after that, she went back to her friend’s house, but could not stay there. “I went back again. I went through the bush path so that I could see them properly. I started jumping to see if I could see them. I jumped again but saw nothing. I jumped the second time and I saw Tekena. Tekena happened to be my brother. “I told myself that I was not seeing well, this thing is a lie. I jumped the third time, I saw Lloyd (one of the victims). So, I started shouting.

From what I gathered, the first time I came, they said they were not known; that they were strangers. As I identified them, I started shouting. Ibisobia said she continued shouting that Tekena was her brother, saying that he came to her on Thursday in school and she gave him his school fees. “I told them that somebody should allow me to ask him what happened and what he came to do. He would confide in me. He was wailing and in a pool of blood.”

“Tekena has been my younger brother for many years. I saw them as they lay in the water unclad with leaves covering their uncladness.” His elder sister said she struggled and entered the crowd. Somebody shouted “Who is that? What is she doing inside?” “People were pushing me and I started crying. He is my brother! He is not a thief! Somebody behind me said O’girl run for your life.

About two persons turned and asked, are you sure he is your brother, and said may be I was the person that sent him to go and steal.” Ibisobia replied them that how could she send him, that she did not look as such. ‘They said I should run for my life that I would be the next one, fifth person.” The young lady lamented that before she could get to her friend’s room to call her family members, she learnt that the mob had taken them to the burrow pit. “So, I went there again.

I called my family and they started coming. The police van came, went into the mob and they were talking to them (youths). The people kept quiet as police were making statements. “I heard them laughing. You know, they were happy. They kept quiet again. Police talked and they laughed again. The next was for me to see three policemen coming out of the mob, boarded their van. And, one of the said “burn them alive”. “I must confess, I was gripped with fear.

I had the intention to talk to the man that said they should be burnt alive. As soon as they (police) drove off, I saw the flames. I was thinking they burnt them after they had killed them. Later, I discovered that they were burnt while they were alive.

They Labelled My Son A Thief To Kill Him –Father Of Chidiaka, Aluu 4 Victim

One of the parents of the slain UNIPORT students, Mr. Steven Biringa, has insisted that his son, Chidiaka, was labelled a thief by his assailants so that they could find a reason to k**ll him.

Mr. Biringa insited that his son had a good upbringing. He said it was unfortunate for members of the Aluu community to kill his son “over spurious claims”.

Biringa, from Obowo Local Government of Imo State, said Chidiaka was always contented with what he had and would only plead with his parents to get what he needed.

He said, “I have always said that if you have seen me, you have seen my child. My child was full of humility. The issue of stealing or being an armed robber is unimaginable. He is dead and would not be here to defend himself.

“They (slain students) were supposed to be trained to take charge when we leave the stage. So why would somebody get up one day and give them a bad name and kill them? It’s just like giving a dog a bad name in order to k**ll it.

“It is not just killing the young men, but the manner which they did it is more annoying. I know my son will die one day just like you and I, but why now and why should it be in the most unacceptable form?

“I don’t see Chidiaka going to pick somebody’s thing. It is unfortunate that he is being labelled a thief or an armed robber or whatever name they must have given to him. But I know that till tomorrow, if I meet him after this planet earth, I am sure he would remain what he has always been. Chidiaka is never a thief and will never be a thief.”

Mr. Biringa appealed to government to allow the law to take its cause in the matter.

Goodnight Pain. "thieves, thieves" he screamed, it was almost funny. Not until more voices joined the chorus as they screamed and shouted on us. 

We could have ran at least to save our lives, but our intentions were genuine and little did we know how the day would end. 

From a handful of young men shouting and throwing questions at us, it escalated to a crowd of angry mob. There was no way we could escape this one, so we calmed down. They pushed us around and then stripped us all.

 These men pulled us pants down, we were more than embarrassed, the whole community watched, I recognized few faces from the crowd. 

Obviously they were so afraid to say "stop" then the beating started, I wished it to be just a nightmare. But it was real, these men were determined. 

They dropped heavy rocks on our heads, they pounded our faces with large planks, blood covered our eyes, they matched and kicked us right on our bleeding nostrils, we couldn't breathe.

"Bring tire" one of the men repeated, until they brought the tires. "Oh God!" We watched the crowd watch us, we raised hands of plea, we couldn't speak, Some hid, some shot videos and took pictures.

 there was no one to stop this. This was the point we knew it was over. We felt pain, helpless and hopeless. I thought of my siblings, I wondered how my mum would take this. She would fall apart.

 I begged God to hold her for me, comfort and make her strong for me, I prayed same for my friends. Then we started crying, we cried together. the tears gave us headaches. We looked up high, the sky was still.

 Rings of tires landed on our necks, they kept hitting us, but we were numb already. They set us ablaze. We rolled around, tried to reach for each other, I wondered who would give up first, the fire burned our bodies. 

it hurt, it hurt and then it hurt. But suddenly the pain stopped, Then I couldn't hear any other thing, but silence. I thanked God. the pain was over and Gods glory was revealed. Goodnight pain. RIP ALUU 4

ABOUT THE LATE INNOCENT UNIPORT4: who were paraded nude, brutally beaten, violently bludgeoned with every object imaginable and then for encore set on fire by the community of Aluu in Obiakpor, River state.

 1. BIRINGA CHIDIAKA LORDSON: Year2 theatre arts student. His dad is a top Petroleum marketing

manager of PPMC, a subsidiary of the NNPC in Port-harcourt. He just turned 20 last week.

2. UGONNA KELECHI OBUZOR: Aged 19, year2 Geology student. Ugonna is from a wealthy

family and the only son of his parents. His dad is a top staff of NDDC in Port-harcourt. Ugo was a

talented music rap artiste, and has a song he released with his fellow mate, Lloyd. Fondly called Tipsy by his closed friends in school. Ugo had just returned from vacation in London before his life was cut short by residents of Aluu community.

3. MIKE LLOYD TOKU: Year2 Civil Engineering student, his Dad is a famous Broadcaster and works

with Radio Rivers in Port-harcourt. Lloyd who was also a talented singer did a collabo with his late friend Ugonna, which they titled ''ain't no love in the heart of the city''.He also went head to head in a rap competition with the famous VECTOR DA VIPER, when vector visited UNIPORT late last year for a show. Until his death, Lloyd was fondly called Big L' by close friends in school.

4. TAMUNOKENA ELKANNAH: Student of UNIPORT, the late Tekena was an Indigene of Okrika in Rivers state, Age 19.

The ALUU4 Massacre: The 5th boy who escaped death speaks out!

 Well this story is an eyewitness account from the 5th boy who escaped. He narrated this to Ugo and Lloyd’s friend and pleaded that his identity be kept secret. This is an eyewitness account,you can believe it if you want or dont.

The boys "ignorantly" got themselves involved with a cultist who operates with a gun, all in a bid to get their money back from a debtor. Below is what actually happened according to an insider.... An indigene of Aluu owed Ugo some money and had vowed not to pay back. Ugo who was popularly known as Tipsy had gone to meet with a fearless University guy (name withheld) to help them track the debtor who had been on the run.

 ‘Mr Fearless guy’ (a cultist) who was feared by many in the school had accepted to accompany his friends to get the debtor tracked down in exchange for a percentage of the debt. They were joined by their room-mate, Chidiaka. 

On their way to the place, they met one of their friend, Tekena, who knew nothing about the plan, and he joined, just for the hype as is normal with young boys of juvenile age. That made 5 boys- Ugo, Lloyd, Chidiaka, Tekena and ‘Mr Fearless Guy’ that got to the debtor’s compound. 

Unknown to the other four, ‘MrFearless Guy’ who was contracted to intimidate the debtor just to get the money paid, went with a gun. When they got to thedebtor’s house around 12am, a fight ensued, as the debtor confronted them. A next door neighbour, a woman started shouting on top of her voice, that they were thieves, attracting other bad boys aroundthe area, whom were mainly “vikings”, the rival cult group of the one on contract.

 They swung into action by tipping the vigilante group who confronted the boys, referring to them as thieves. In the process of beating the boys, while they were trying to prove their innocence, the fifth boy, ‘Mr Fearless Guy’, who is a cultist, brought out his gun to scare the people, and he escaped, leaving the rest four at the mercyof the villagers. 

The explanation they tried to give fell on the community’s deaf ears as the people insisted they must be killed....and unfortunately they were lynched!If this story is anything to go by, then that explains why the boys were giving different stories while being interrogated by the Aluu Chieftain and vigilante group, they were stunned, confused, didn't know the other guy was with a gun and under pressure. 

And the uneducated vigilante group and maybe a high school drop out Aluu chief and wretched villagers felt they knew better to pass judgement... Nigerians are not what people think we are due to this. Aluu is a name I never heard of not until after that fateful day. One poor wretched community can not spoil what we are and what we stand for. we are Nigeria and we will fight for rights, we will pick up from this and stand for what we believe in; and the world will stop labeling us wicked, evil.

UNIPORT STUDENT M**RDER: Omuokiri-Aluu monarch, 10 others charged to court

ELEVEN persons including the traditional head of Omuokiri-Aluu community, Chief  Alhaji  Hassan Walewa  have been arraigned at the High Court in Port Harcourt over the brutal m**rder last Friday of three students of the University of Port Harcourt and their friend at Omuokiri-Aluu, Rivers state.

The state Police Commissioner, Mr Mohammed Ndabawa who made this known  when the Executive Secretary of the National Human rights Commission, Prof Ben Agwe and his team visited him at the Police headquarters in Port Harcourt said a total of thirteen persons had so far been arrested in connection with the ugly incident.



The state Police boss who spoke through his Deputy Police Commissioner, Mr Thomas Etomi said two persons out of the thirteen were kept behind to aid police investigation.

He assured that the Police would unearth all details relating to the murder, adding that the Commission would be kept abreast with minute developments from the Police angle on the issue.

The Police boss who described the way the four were k**lled as barbaric said there was no justification for the mob action.  He said the Police would ensure such ugly incident does not repeat itself again in the state.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prof Angwe said they were in the state to hear how the four were murdered.  He said they would visit the village where the sad incident occurred and also make effort to meet with parents of the deceased before leaving the state.

He assured family members of the four and students of the University of Port Harcourt that his Commission would stand by them to see that justice was done in the case.

Prof Angwe said the Commission had received calls from the international community on the sad incident, promising that they would also monitor the court process to its end.

He further appealed to  students of the University of Port Harcourt not to take laws into their hands over the ugly incident.

University of Port Harcourt students brutally beaten and burnt alive

SENATE President David Mark was Tuesday petitioned by mother of one of the murdered students of University of Port Harcourt at Omuokiri Village in Aluu Community of Rivers State.

Mrs. Chinwe Biringa, mother of the killed Mr. Chiadika Biringa, a second year student of Theater Arts at the University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT in the petition to the Senate President and dated 9th October, 2012 was titled ‘’Petition: Gruesome murder of my son at Aluu, University of Port Harcourt host community.’’

According to her, allegations that her son and others were murdered was as result of a stolen Laptop and Blackberry was false against the backdrop that her son had a laptop computer and Blackberry right from his days in the primary school.

Mrs Birinda who noted that the family has been going through pains following the incident and what they watched, however called on the Senate to intervene by ensuring that justice was done and the perpetrators brought to book, adding, ‘’We do not want this thing to be swept under the rug like most Nigerian investigations.

‘’We seek the help and intervention of the Senate to ensure that justice is done. Justice is the only thing that can assuage the pains and emotional traumas consuming us and clear the name of our son so that he can rest in peace.’’

The petition read, ‘’My name is Mrs. Chinwe Biringa. I am the mother of Mr. Chiadika Biringa, a second year student of Theater Arts at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT). My husband is a very senior staff officer at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.

‘’My son turned 20 years old this week and we gave him pocket money to celebrate it with his friends. On Friday morning, we were called by my second son, also a UNIPORT student, that all was not well and he was hearing bad rumours that villagers at ALUU, the host community of UNIPORT had murdered four students. I immediately rushed to the scene only to see my son’s dead body being taken away naked to a mortuary in UNIPORT Teaching Hospital. I could not believe my eyes and collapsed.

‘’What did my son do? What did the other three young men who died with him do? First, we heard that the four students were alleged to have stolen a Blackberry phone and a laptop computer. This could not be further from the truth. My son has had a Blackberry phone and in fact a laptop computer since he was in primary school. No way could my son steal such a common thing as a cell phone which every village woman now owns.

‘’We have been subjected to several gory videos and pictures on the internet. This shows that someone filmed the whole barbarism from beginning to end. My son and his friends were savagely beaten and burnt to death while villagers at ALUU watched. All this has been caught on film!

‘’The video shows that all this was filmed in broad day light which suggests that they were killed after 7.30 am. Further investigation has revealed that they left their friend’s house at ALUU at about 7 am to go and prepare for lectures.

‘’To waylay them and beat them with planks until they di*d like chicken is the most savage thing one can witness in Nigeria of 2012. First they were stripped naked, marched around like frogs and then beaten to death. What savagery and bestiality.

‘’My husband and I want only two things, namely:a) To clear the name of Chiadika, b justice

‘’Your Excellency, every responsible parent knows what I, my husband, and the entire family are passing through over this beastly murder.

‘’Again, and for emphasis, the film shows everything in clear view and all the perpetrators must answer for their crimes.

‘’We want Justice. Those who murdered my son must face the wrath of the law. Heartbroken mother.’’

The Truth Finally Comes Out: Why the 4 Students Were Killed

Since this incident happened I've pondered and wondered what could have gone wrong that the four boys weren't bold enough to talk and challenge those who beat and paraded them in public, leading them to where they were eventually killed.

Now the whole issue is clearer; the boys "ignorantly" got themselves involved with a cultist who operates with a gun, all in a bid to get their money back from a debtor.

Below is what actually happened according to an insider....

An indigene of Aluu owed Ugo some money and had vowed not to pay back. Ugo who was popularly known as Tipsy had gone to meet with a fearless University guy (name withheld) to help them track the debtor who had been on the run.

‘Mr Fearless guy’ (a cultist) who was feared by many in the school ad accepted to accompany his friends to get the debtor tracked down in exchange for a percentage of the debt.

They were joined by their room-mate, Chidiaka. On their way to the place, they met one of their friend, Tekena, who knew nothing about the plan, and he joined, just for the hype as is normal with young boys of juvenile age.

That made 5 boys - Ugo, Lloyd, Chidiaka, Tekena and ‘Mr Fearless Guy’ that got to the debtor’s compound. Unknown to the other four, ‘Mr Fearless Guy’ who was contracted to intimidate the debtor just to get the money paid, went with a gun.

When they got to the debtor’s house around 12am, a fight ensued, as the debtor confronted them. A next door neighbour, a woman started shouting on top of her voice, that they were thieves, attracting other bad boys around the area, whom were mainly “vikings”, the rival cult group of the one on contract.

They swung into action by tipping the vigilante group who confronted the boys, referring to them as thieves. In the process of beating the boys, while they were trying to prove their innocence, the fifth boy, ‘Mr Fearless Guy’, who is a cultist, brought out his gun to scare the people, and he escaped, leaving the rest four at the mercy of the villagers.

The explanation they tried to give fell on the community’s deaf ears as the people insisted they must be killed....and unfortunately they were lynched!

Note:- this story is an eyewitness account from the 5th boy who escaped. He narrated this to Ugo and Lloyd’s friend who has pleaded that his identity be kept secret.

Aluu 4 killing: Llyod Michael's devastated parents speak

Mrs. Jane Toku, the mother of Lloyd, one of the four undergraduates of the University of Port Harcourt that were lynched at Aluu community in Rivers State, says her son’s death will always haunt her.

She also expressed shock that the crowd could watch how her son and his friends were gruesomely murdered. Jane spoke with Punch correspondent amid tears on Monday in Port Harcourt.

Jane said, “When we got there, one of them was still breathing. He was gasping for breath, but the crowd…they were all there watching while my baby (Lloyd) was butchered. Come to my area and ask questions about my child; the child I trained.

“Penultimate Sunday, we went to church, Salvation Ministry; that is where he worshipped. We all went together for the second service. He stayed back for the remaining service. When he came back, he started preparing to go to school. I can still see him as I talk to you.

“He brought out a book; ‘How Faith Works’ by David Ibiyomie and he said ‘Mummy, read this book and you will know what faith is all about. By the time I come back on Friday, you will tell me what faith is all about.’

“Ever since, I have been moving around with that book, so that I could read and not get him angry when he comes back from school and ask me about what I learnt from the book.

“Thursday was his daddy’s birthday. He (Lloyd) called him and wished him happy birthday. When his daddy asked him if he would be coming home to celebrate the birthday with the family, he (Lloyd) promised to be back on Friday after lectures.

“But on Friday morning, we got the call that my son was being beaten. How can I erase the fact that my son was lynched from my mind? He studied very hard and got admission into the university.”

Meanwhile, the community was like a ghost town on Monday as the inhabitants of the area left their homes to avoid being arrested by security agents.

Shops, restaurants and mini supermarkets were also shut by their owners who felt students of the university were planning a reprisal on the community.

Four students were on Friday morning lynched by suspected members of the community for allegedly stealing laptops and mobile phones.

Students living off campus in the community were not left out in the rush to leave the community to avoid the wrath of security agents, who had been patrolling the area.

The police had since the killing of the four students arrested 13 suspects from Omuokiri village in Aluu, including the village head.

Immediate past President of UNIPORT Student’s Union, Mr. Rhino Owhorkire, told our correspondent that students had shelved the idea of any reprisal.

Owhorkire vowed not to rest until those behind the killings were brought to book.

Lloyd’s parents appealed to government not to allow those involved in the gruesome murder of their child and his friends go scot-free.

Lloyd Toku was a 200 level undergraduate of Civil Engineering at the university before he was killed.

Speaking with PUNCH Metro on Monday, Lloyd’s father, Mr. Mike Toku, insisted that his son was neither a thief nor a cult member.

Toku, who is the Assistant Director, Presentation, Radio Rivers and a father of three male children, narrated how he got a distress call that his son was being beaten up by a mob.

He said, “On Friday morning at about 7am, we got a distress call that our son was being beaten alongside two of his friends. So, we quickly rushed down. Initially, it was very difficult for us to locate the place, but by the grace of God, we were able to locate the place.

“By the time we got there, we saw a mammoth crowd with a few Joint Task Force members there. So, we pulled through the crowd and when I tried to move closer, the JTF operatives told me to move back. Later on, one of my cousins supported me and we moved on again and explained to them (JTF operatives).

“I move close to the four corpses on the ground and I discovered that one of them was my son. We were also able to identify the other three as his friends. We took the corpses to UPTH to ascertain whether they were still alive. A doctor came out, examined them and said they were all dead. My son has never stolen before,” Toku explained amid tears.

He called on government not to allow those behind the gruesome murder of his son and his friends to go unpunished.

 “All I want is for justice to be done. That’s all. Whoever carried out that dastardly act should be brought to book. That is all I want. I have not got assurance from anybody that justice will be done. I am yet to get that (assurance). Nobody has talked to us yet.

Also, Toku’s wife, Mrs. Jane Toku, stated that the crowd was watching while his son was being butchered to death.
