He was nominated for music producer of the year at the 2011 Nigerian Entertainment Awards scheduled to hold in September, but the hit maker doesn't particularly seem interested in winning.

He tweeted:

"Pls everyone that has been going to vote for me for NEA award i really appreciate it o but please spread the votes to my colleagues. thanks. No be say i dey form o but i kinda have 2 many already. and i know the award might ginger and motivate someone else. Thanks again o"
Well, i dont know what he was trying to portray but i think if he was nominated for a Grammy,he would beg his fans to go all out and vote.Next time,he should allow his fans do the talking with their votes .Since Don baba-J doesn't want it, here are other producers you can vote for. Sossick, Cobhams, Samklef, Jesse Jagz and Dootor Frabz.

Ondo university opposes posting of students to northern states

Olufemi Mimiko, VC , .
The management of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko in Ondo State, yesterday expressed displeasure over the one-year national youth service posting of some of its students to northern states which it said were ‘violence prone’.
The Ondo State-owned institution, in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Sola Imoru, said it is still traumatised by the death of one of its alumni, Kehinde Jehleel Adeniji, who was killed during the violence that trailed the April 16 presidential election in Bauchi State
Mr Imoru said a situation where some of the students were still posted to these states without sufficient guarantee for their safety by the authority of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), in defiance of the University and other Nigerians’ calls for a bold review of the scheme, is unacceptable.
“In a nation where some youths in some parts of the country gather to fight the nation in the name of Boko Haram, posting educated youths to these states amounts to leading them to the slaughter slab,” the university said. “Less than 24 hours after Adekunle Ajasin University handed over call-up letters to its graduates for mobilisation into the compulsory national youth service, it was inundated and continues to be inundated with calls, visits and e-mails by parents and guardians, protesting the posting of their children and wards to states labelled as flash points of violence in the country.”
The university official said the Adekunle Ajasin University identifies with the fears and anxiety of recent graduates and their parents.
Address the cause of violence
The institution also said it is of the view that no responsible government should allow students to be posted to states where they will be exposed to danger, adding that, “the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria says the security and welfare of the people shall be the main purpose of government.”
It, therefore, requested that its graduates posted to northern states where there was violence should be deployed to other states in order to assuage the anxiety of their parents. “While the University believes in the principles underlying the establishment of the NYSC, it is of the opinion that, in the interim, graduating students should serve in their geopolitical zones until the Federal Government is able to effectively address the huge security challenges presently besetting the country,” Mr Imoru said in the statement.
The statement also called for a review of the posting decisions. “The Federal Government should therefore immediately put necessary measures in place to enlighten the Boko Haram sect, get them to toe the line of decency and guarantee the security of the people before returning the NYSC to its status quo.”

Christy Essien -Igbokwe dies!!!

THE death, yesterday, of Christy Essien Igbokwe, notable musician, former Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, PMAN, president and famous actress added yet, another blow to the number of deaths that are witnessed in the culture  and entertainment clime in recent time.
Coming in the heels of the death of famous Oshogbo multi artist, Twins Seven Seven, and notable art patron, Managing Director of GT Bank, Tayo Aderinokun, Igbokwe’s death came as a big shock to an already tear-dazed members of the entertainment house.
Originally born Christy Uduak Essien on November 11, 1960, the late musician who became popular as Nigerian Lady of Songs with her kind of music ruled the nation’s air wave in the 70s’.
Essien-Igbokwe began her musical career in secondary school, where she sang at various clubs. In 1976 she joined the satirical NTA series, The New Masquerade where she acted the very engaging character, Apeno.
Her short role in that popular sitcom that was the most popular television drama in the 70s and 80s’ helped to put her in the limelight.
But as fate would have it, Essien in1977 became launched into professional music career at the age of  17. Many of her albums became hit  numbers, but none came close to the success of her 1981 hit album ‘Ever Liked My Person’ produced by Lemmy Jackson.
Through her famous Seun Rere, Essien Igbokwe singularly launched Nigeria’s name on the world music map. A very creative and talented artist, Essien belonged to the generation of Nigerian women , who saw gender barrier as no obstruction to  reaching the peak of the careers.
It was through this commitment added to innovative spirit that she became the first female president of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, PMAN. Always at the forefront of issues affecting women and children, she also played remarkable roles in some of the early Nollywood flicks such as Flesh and Blood and Scars of Womanhood, both of which addressed issues of child abuse and female circumcision.
With a desire to make life better for Nigerian artists, she is credited as having initiated the first meeting that brought about the formation of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, PMAN in 1981.
Reacting to her death, another erstwhile President of PMAN, Bolaji Rosiji, described the death of late Christy Essien Igbokwe as shocking adding: “She was one of the PMAN presidents that left a lasting legacy.
“Christy Essien Igbokwe transcended borders of gender and ethnicity in her leadership of PMAN. She is like an aunt to me and was very important to the various welfare efforts I pursued as president. Her generosity crossed the borders of entertainment industry.”
For Ben Tomoloju, former Deputy Editor of The Guardian and culture pathologist, the death of Christy Essien is “ simply too many for the arts house.”
He said:  “I have been following Essien since the 70s’ until the point she transited from singing to acting. I see her as a strong factor in motivation. She was quite motivating and legendary in every aspect.”
Stella Monye in her reaction summed up the whole feeling of loss when she rhetorically asked: “Christy die? Wetin kill am? Which kind death be that?
“Old Boy, she was the best President that PMAN ever had. She worked day and night to make sure that PMAN  worked. She impacted on all the musicians and was more like a mother to all of us.”
