President Buhari Congratulates RCCG G.O Pastor Adeboye as He Turns 74

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye is 74 today.

He is being celebrated by his many children all over the world across all social media networks. We pray God grants him good health and wisdom to lead the Church of God right. Happy birthday sir. Also see what President Buhari said about him after the cut.

According to presidential spokeperson, Femi Adeshina, President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adejare Adeboye, as he turns 74 years on March 2, 2016.

The President believes the revered Christian leader, who paid him a courtesy call at the Presidential Villa on February 16, 2016 and whom he had interacted with many times before, epitomizes the virtues of honesty, peace, patience, contentment, humility and diligence, which are the trademarks of a good believer.

As a Christian leader, the President commends the relentless efforts, sacrifices and the grace of God upon the life of the General Overseer, who has over the years propagated the gospel around the world, organized large gathering of Christian worshipers and consistently counselled leaders and their citizens on living right before God.

Besides preaching the gospel, President Buhari salutes the social and humanitarian interventions of the RCCG leader in providing health and educational services to complement the efforts of governments.

The President prays that the Almighty God will grant Pastor Adeboye long life and more strength to carry on the good work, Mr. Adesina said.

Ben Murray-Bruce ask President Buhari, 36 State Governors to do Their Vacation in Nigeria Instead of Abroad

Senator Ben Murray Bruce has asked President Muhammadu Buhari and the 36 state governors to do their holidays in Nigeria instead of going outside the country. According to him, this will help bring International focus to the various tourist attractions we have in Nigeria and in the long run help improve our economy.

Read what he wrote on his Facebook wall below...
Nigeria's elected leaders are legally entitled to paid holiday and typically they take these holidays in exotic foreign holiday destinations. But the world is changing. Nigeria is changing. And as Nigerians, we have to adjust our behaviors so that they make economic sense in today's world.

Instead of vacationing overseas, why can't our leaders vacation at scenic and beautiful Nigerian locations such as Yankari Games Reserve in Bauchi, Obudu Cattle Ranch in Cross River or Mambilla Plateau in Taraba or even the Gashaka Gumti Games Reserve, also in Taraba? I have holidayed in these places and they are as beautiful as any holiday location anywhere in the world. Our economy is facing challenges. We need to be looking at non oil resources and tourism is one area we can make a honest buck. But which tourist would come to Nigeria if our own elite refuse to holiday here? Consider the history of The US and The UK.

Their leaders habitually spend their vacations within their nations. It is a rarity for them to holiday overseas. US President Barrack Obama recently returned from his vacation to Hawaii while British Prime Minister had his last vacation in Cornwall in The UK. Our leaders, be they the President or any of the 36 state governors, are the chief marketing officers for the nation and their states.

Their presence in a local holiday resort or attraction draws the attention of the world. Since they have such capital, should they not spend it in Nigeria rather than abroad? And it is not just leaders who should so act. All of us should begin to patronize local tourist attractions. Tourism fetches South Africa over $5 billion annually and $1 billion in Kenya. In Nigeria, tourism is so insignificant because we do not make enough efforts to attract tourists.

Our Naira is nose diving and the only way to salvage the situation is to‪#‎BuyNaijaToGrowTheNaira‬.
My name is Ben Murray-Bruce and I just want to make ‪#‎Commonsense‬!

President Buhari Cancels Federal Government Delegation to Hajj, to Save $1million

President Muhammadu Buhari says there would be no federal government delegation for this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia. This is against the usual tradition of previous government where a federal government delegation will lead pilgrims to the holy land for the religious exercise.

President Buhari who said this yesterday August 10th, said the cancellation will however not stop the federal government from playing its traditional roles of providing consular, medical and security services to Nigerian pilgrims. With the decision, the government is expected to save about $1 million and N30m in local expenses.

President Buhari To Make Himself Minister of Petroleum(Report)

President Buhari is set to head the Ministry of Petroleum for 18 months before appointing a substantive minister for the ministry.

The President said this while meeting with some members of his political party, the All Progressives Congress, in Abuja recently.

One of those at the meeting, who spoke on condition of anonymity, on Sunday said that the President said he would use the 18 months of heading the petroleum ministry to reposition it.
According to him,
“At the meeting we had recently, we discussed the issues of portfolios and other matters,” the President said he was going to handle the Ministry of Petroleum himself for about 18 months.

“He said it was after this that he would appoint a substantive minister for the ministry. He said he would only personally handle the reorganisation of the much-important ministry.

“Besides, he said the ministry needed to be reformed and be rid of corruption. He promised to sanitise the ministry.”
It was, however, gathered that the President was thinking of appointing an experienced person as his special adviser on petroleum.

The President was once a minister in charge of the ministry so due to this experience, he was said to have vowed to make sure that he blocked all the loopholes that enabled stealing of money or petroleum products.

He plans to split the NNPC in two, creating a regulator and a vehicle for investments, according to Femi Adesina, a presidential spokesman.

So far the president has fired the board and management of the company and replaced its Jonathan-appointed chief with Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, who was executive vice-chariman of Exxon Mobil Africa. He has also ordered a review of oil-swap contracts and barred 113 vessels from loading oil and gas, about 250,000 barrels of Nigerian crude, about 10 percent of the country’s daily output, are stolen daily, Buhari has said.

Speaking on the issue, the Peoples Democratic Party said it would be too early to speculate on whether the President would head the ministry or not.
Rather, the opposition party urged Nigerians to wait till September when the President promised to name his cabinet.

The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Jalo, told our correspondent that he was only sure that the President was going to split the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Jalo said, “That Buhari is going to head the ministry is speculative. But what we know, going by his body language and actions so far, is that he is going to split the NNPC.
“This is what we know. So, let’s wait and see what he’s going to do before we make comments.”

However, the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties said the constitution vested powers on the President to head any ministry or parastatal of his choice or appoint a representative.

The National Publicity Secretary of the organisation, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, said that Section 5 of the 1999 Constitution “vested executive powers on the President.

He said
“He can decide to exercise such powers by himself or delegate it to his deputy, or public officers of the public service of the federation. That’s what the law says.
“Whether he chooses to manage any ministry by himself is immaterial. Whether he decides to be in charge of ministries such as power, works, women affairs or culture does not mean anything to the Nigerian people.”

Goodluck Jonathan Pays President Buhari Secret Visit in Aso Rock

Ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday evening paid a secret visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, according to new reports by the Punch.

The meeting was apparently held inside the President’s official residence and this visit by Jonathan would make it the first time he would be visiting the Presidential Villa since he left office on May 29th.

Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity confirmed Jonathan’s visit and meeting with Buhari to Punch correspondents on Sunday. He however disclosed that he was not privy to the subject of discussion at the meeting.

A top Presidency official apparently also talked to the Punch correspondent who said that the meeting was strictly between Buhari and Jonathan. He said that the visit was so private that no photographs were taken. According to the official: "Nobody was with them. I am sure they don’t want the visit to be an item in the media. That probably explains why the former president visited at night and went straight to the residence. They met for a few minutes in the President’s residence."

According to reports, president Buhari also hosted ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo the following day after Jonathan's visit. However, unlike Jonathan’s visit, one of the photographers who was with the President was able to capture the two leaders.

If the two visits are somehow connected is still not known.

We Have Identified Accomplice Countries & Banks Behind Oil Theft - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari says investigations being carried out on the oil sector have revealed countries and banks that have aided and abetted the people behind oil theft in Nigeria. He said this when a delegation of US congress members paid him a visit at the state house today August 3rd.

"We are getting cooperation from the international community, including information on ships that take crude oil from Nigeria and change direction, or pour their contents into other ships mid-stream. Some monies were paid to individual accounts. We're identifying the financial institutions and countries that are involved. I have been assured that when we get all our documents together, the United States and other countries will treat our case with sympathy,’’ he said.

Buhari To Probe Jonathan's Government - Presidency Reveals

In an interview with Vanguard, Femi Adeshina , the presidential media adviser, confirmed that president Buhari is planning to probe the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan.
He (Buhari) has said it that money in billions of dollars will be recovered. But you know the world is too small a place for anybody to hide if you are running from justice. You will be fished out. So, there is no need that you say they should not be heading for jail if eventually the law goes after them. Very few countries can they hide in and how long will they hide? So, it doesn’t mean that anybody that has ill gotten wealth will not regurgitate it. They will. Remember when he went to Germany for the G7 summit, he met with President Obama and Obama told him to just give us information on where the loot is hidden and we will help you recover it and the government has been working on that. So, that shows that looters will never go free" he said
Asked if Buhari plans to probe administrations before GEJ, Adeshina said
"He can’t afford to go too deep into the past or else it will be destructive for his administration. There are some things you can’t close your eyes to while you don’t want to shine the torchlight into the dark recesses of our past; immediate past where things are evident. The Yoruba have a saying that the corpse we buried, the leg is sticking out and, if you bury a corpse and the leg is sticking out, you can’t pretend. When there are trails all over of the monies in billions and trillions, then a responsible government can’t close its eyes to that.

After Previous Failures, I Was Scared Of Contesting The 2015 Election - President Buhari Reveals

President Muhammadu Buhari says he was scared of contesting in the 2015 presidential election after his failures in past elections. He said this while addressing APC leaders during the breaking of the Ramadan fast at the presidential villa yesterday July 14th..
"No matter the level you are, drop your influence so that we can help achieve the manifesto – security, economy, employment and corruption- because if we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria. We have to ensure that people we bring forward are those that will move the society forward.

I always like to go down the memory lane to show how lucky we are as a political group. At no stage was the decision taken by chance, it was all deliberate. The leaders of the parties felt the only way to wrest power from the PDP was for us to come together. I, in particular, was scared after previous failures of the elections of 2003, 2007 and 2011. We dissolved our various parties to form APC, then we applied to INEC, for once I was grateful to INEC.
We had gone with nine people to INEC to apply and INEC advised us that we needed at least 25 people to form a political party. We were able to go back and raised 35 members across the country and then successfully registered the party. INEC then informed the federal government that we have met the requirements hence we cannot be denied registration. Many doubting Thomases said merger had never succeeded in Nigeria but here we are. I went into this long explanation so that you will appreciate how far we have come and for a society as ours, if we respect the constitution, then all the greed and problems will be a thing of the fast.”he said
