A Nigerian footballer breaks down in tears after 'racist abuse from crowd'

Racism in football reared its ugly head again last night as a young soccer star was so badly abused by the crowd in an FA Cup match that he broke down in tears.

Oldham defender Tom Adeyemi became upset after becoming the target of a section of the crowd at the famous Kop end at Anfield during Liverpool's tie with Oldham.

Police are investigating after fans allegedly called the youngster 'a f****** black b******' during their team's 5-1 victory over their lower league opposition.

It is understood that Adeyemi, 20, has given a statement to police in which he claimed he was the victim of a racist attack.

The event will undoubtedly mar the club's reputation following the recent suspension handed out to striker Luis Suarez for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

It was near the end of the FA Cup 3rd round match at Anfield that last night's ugly incident took place.

Abuse seemed to emanate from the famous Kop end of the ground where, according to witnesses, fans were seen wearing Luis Suárez T-shirts and brandishing scarves bearing the player's name.

Adeyemi turned to confront his abuser, becoming visibly upset. Players from both sides intervened with Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and striker Dirk Kuyt among those attempting to reassure the Oldham player.

As players from both teams tried to calm down Adeyemi, fans in Liverpool's stands then began singing the name of Suárez, upsetting the young player even more. He appeared to be in tears as he lifted his shirt to wipe his face.

A witness who gave evidence to Liverpool officials and the police was quoted by the Guardian as saying: 'I was to the right of the Kop and the No11 turned to walk away after a tackle.

'I heard a single voice shout, "You f****** black *******." He spun round with shock on his face and started pointing at the crowd, from where the shout had come.'

Racist dog owner claimed Rottweiler bit Nigerian nurse because it ‘doesn’t like black people’

A Nigerian nurse was bitten by a dog and was almost attached with a machete by the dog’s owner, Nollywoodgossip has learned.

Nurse Patrick Ogunobo, 57, was bitten by the unleashed Rottweiler near his Openshaw home. When he told the dog’s owner, Wolf Carter, that the dog should be on a lead, the owner screamed racist abuse before pulling the machete from his backpack and lunging at him.

Mr Ogunobo bravely stood his ground, grabbing Carter’s wrist and wrestling the blade from him.

Police arrested Carter, who claimed his dog did not like black people because a previous owner, a black man, had mistreated the animal. But Manchester Crown Court heard the 41-year-old loner’s police interview was peppered with racist rants, described as ‘worrying’ and ‘bizarre’ by the judge.

Carter will now spend 18-months behind bars after he was found guilty of possessing an offensive weapon in a trial earlier this year. Mr Ogunobo later said how he had acted instinctively when confronted with the blade.

He said: “I asked him [Carter], could he put the dog on a lead. “He said: ‘Shut up you ******** African, do you want me to show you what I have got?’ “He had a bag on his back and then opened it and pulled out a machete and came to attack me. “I said to myself I wasn’t going to run – I’m going to stand up to him.

“I have lived in Britain for almost 30 years and I have never had such an experience in my life.

Nobody has ever attacked me or threatened my life.” Judge Roger Thomas QC said the offence was aggravated by racial abuse and in the most serious category of its kind.

Jailing Carter for the May 2 incident, he said: “The fact you were there in the middle of the day, with a camouflage backpack with a machete in it, gives some insight into the curious kind of thinking and lifestyle you have.”

Italian man kills two Senegalese traders in Florence

Vendors took to the streets after the attack in protest
An Italian man has opened fire in two markets in central Florence, killing two Senegalese traders and injuring three others.

The attacker, 50-year-old Gianluca Casseri, belonged to a far-right group, Italian media said.

He killed two men and injured a third in Dalmazia Square before opening fire in San Lorenzo Square, wounding two.

Casseri was later found dead in an underground car-park, having turned the gun on himself, police said.

Italy's president, Giorgio Napolitano, denounced "this blind explosion of hatred" and called on Italian authorities and society to "combat in the bud every form of intolerance and to reaffirm the tradition of openness and solidarity in our country".

The mayor of Florence described the shooting spree as that of a deranged person acting alone.

"These are the actions of a lone killer - a lucid, mad and racist killer," Matteo Renzi said, adding that such behaviour was out of character for the city and had shocked it to its core.
Casseri is reported to have calmly got out of a car in Dalmazia Square and opened fire, killing the two Senegalese in the market, and injuring a third.

"I heard what I thought were fireworks but when I turned around I saw three men bleeding on the floor," a market trader who saw the attack told La Repubblica.

As shoppers and traders fled in panic, some people tried to pursue Casseri, but he escaped in his car.

Later he began firing at other Senegalese traders at a market in a second square near the city's cathedral - one of the city's largest - injuring two more people.

Dozens of Africans living in the city - many of whom make a living selling knick-knacks and fake designer bags to tourists - have marched through the city centre in protest at the killings, knocking over mopeds, bins and street signs.

A published author of science-fiction novels, Casseri is reported to have belonged to a far-right association called Casa Pound.

The group sought to distance itself from Casseri saying it did not support any type of violence.

Fabio Barsanti, a regional co-ordinator for the group, described Casseri as "lonely" and "living in his own world" but "not crazy".
