27-Year-Old Woman Commits Su*c*de After Giving Birth To Twins

11 days after she was delivered of a set of twins, a Nigerian mother, Shekinat Abdurazaq, 27, committed su**c*de when she jumped into the Osun River in Ede, Western Nigeria. The suicide was committed in full glare at about 3.30 p.m. on the Osun River Bridge on the Oke Gada Road.

Witnesses said before Shekinat jumped into the river, she reportedly prayed and gave alms to beggars around the bridge head. One of the witnesses, who identified himself as Selia Mojeed, said people did not know that Abdurazaq wanted to commit suicide, else they would have prevented her from doing so.

Although efforts to speak with her husband failed, it was said that the woman had no outstanding problems with her spouse, family or neighbours before the incident. Efforts by sympathisers and passersby to rescue the woman failed as she was said to have drowned immediately.

Shortly after the incident, her husband also attempted to jump into the river. He was prevented from doing so by bystanders. The police later whisked away the deceased’s husband and placed him under safe custody at the Police “A” Division in Ede. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Folasade Odoro, confirmed the incident.

Globacom Manager ‘Tayo Smith’ Commits Suic*de

I don’t know what could possibly push a married man with children to commit suicide and blame it on his boss, but judging from the suic*de note this Glo Area Marketing Manager left, that seemed to have been the case.

One of the Area Marketing Managers of Globacom Nigeria, Tayo Smith committed suic*de last Saturday, leaving a note in which he apologized to his wife and children. It is also being speculated that the deceased blamed his action on his boss who he claimed was frustrating him.

Though Tayo Smith’s colleagues are keeping mum about the incident and no one wants to be quoted, there are insinuations that there is more to the suic*de than is being said.

People have started wondering anyone would commit suic*de due to frustration from a boss when there is an option of quitting the job. One other suspicion that has been raised by the supposed suic*de note borders on the condition under which it was written.

Some people have drawn an inference that the deceased might have been compelled to write the note to make it look like suic*de while what happened was probably a case of homicide.

There have also been suggestions that he might have been in on some top rated secrets or deals which probably led to what is being termed “arranged suic*de” by some. Though no member of staff of Glo in Challenge has denied the story, none wants to say a word.

Everyone is keeping mum and when calls were placed to the Public Relations Department at the Head Office, those who answered claimed to have been transferred to the Northern part of the country.

Fifty Year Old Widow Commits Suic*de In Oyo State(PHOTO)

A 50-year-old widow, Juliana Oluwafemi, has committed suicide by hanging in Apata Elere area of Ibadan, Oyo State. It was learnt that Oluwafemi, popularly known as Iya Iyanu, was found hanging on a tree close to the Odo-Ona River, Apata on Monday.

A youth leader in the community, Mr. Ayodele Obaro, who spoke with journalists on the issue, said the deceased was discovered around 8am by mechanics that had gone to the river banks to defecate. He said, “When I heard about the incident, I reported to a nearby church, Saint Paul’s Anglican Church and they later informed the police.”

According to the younger sister of the deceased, Iya Subomi, Juliana was declared missing on Saturday after efforts to trace her whereabouts failed. She said, “She came to her son’s house at Odo-ona on Friday and was left at home by her son who went for a vigil.

“However, by the time he came back on Saturday morning, he did not see his mother at home. “Her disappearance was suspicious, because she left the house without her shoes and phone.”

Subomi added that someone informed her that a d*ad woman was found hanging on a tree by the river. She said after she was shocked to discover that the dead woman was her sister.

Subomi said, “Her business was thriving and her children were doing well. I am also very sure that she was not in debt. I cannot say why she decided to take her own life.” Efforts to get comments from the police were abortive as the Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Bisi Inobanafor, could not be reached.

Boy accidentally hangs self with rope while playing in the garden

A 9-year-old boy, Josef Kazzan has died after he accidentally hanged himself with a rope while playing at his parent’s house in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire on Sunday. Read the rest of this entry at the cut... Sources say Josef's parents took the agonising decision to switch off their son's life support machine two days after the freak accident at their home.

He died surrounded by his family at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) on Tuesday. A neighbor identified as Steve Rhodes said he and Josef's mother Rachel had frantically tried to revive the dying boy with heart massage and mouth-to-mouth before paramedics arrived at the house, all to no avail.

“We managed to get a heartbeat and a weak pulse but he never came round after that. I can’t believe he’s gone,” he said. “I miss the noise, I miss him bouncing around. He had so much energy in a small package. His mum and dad made that garden for the children, it’s like a wonderland. They had everything in there a child would ever want,” he said.

23 Years Old Graduate Commits Suicide Over Girlfriend

For the family and friends of a young man identified as Chijioke who lived of 98 Abel Jumbo Street, in Mile Two, Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, June 24, will forever be remembered as a Black Sunday. While the young man’s family members are wallowing in mourning, neighbours and acquaintance too are still reeling from shock over his sudden d*ath.

The question everyone is asking is: Why would a young, able-bodied graduate choose to take his own life on account of a woman? The person in question, Chijioke, age 23, a native of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, and the son of a female Chief Matron with the Rivers State Health Management Board, allegedly committed suicid* at his residence two hours after he was granted bail by the Diobu Police Station after he was arrested and detained for harassing his girlfriend.

According to witnesses, on Saturday, June 23, the late young man and his girlfriend had a misunderstanding which prompted the young lady to have him arrested by the police on allegations of constant harassments and threat to her life.

According to reports, the lady in question (name withheld) decided to arrest the deceased when he insisted that their relationship (which she was no longer interested in) must continue. Before the deceased was released from police cell, he was made to sign an undertaking that he would neither hurt the lady again nor go close to her. Thereafter, he left the police station in fury.

Relatives of the deceased who were at the scene of the crime refused to offer any comment, but few neighbors who spoke on the condition of anonymity confirmed that the late lover was discovered dead when a friend came to visit him.

According to them, the visitor alarm drew the attention of neighbours and passers-by to the shocking sight inside his room. Regarding the reason behind the late Chijioke’s fatal action, an insider affirmed that the general consensus was that his rash action that culminated in his premature death was due to his girlfriend’s refusal to continue with the relationship, a decision believed to have been informed by his constant beating and manhandling of the girl.

Another source claimed that the deceased, a former student of Marine Engineering Department of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, had been dating the girl since when he was in the university. Meanwhile, elders from Isiokpo, the deceased’s hometown, had been deliberating on the matter. Relatives are in dilemma as there are rumours that the remains of the deceased may be thrown into evil forest in accordance with the Ikwerre custom as it relates to suicides. In the meantime, the case had been reported to the Azikiwe Police Station for further investigations.

Man commits suicide after prayer in Ilorin

Dare Amoo, a 45-year-old driver from Idigba Compound in Oke-Ose, Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara, on Sunday committed suicide by hanging.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that the deceased, a father of six, told his wife after the early morning Muslim prayer that he was going to the toilet.
The woman, who expected her husband to come out of the toilet after some minutes, reportedly attempted to open the toilet’s door that was firmly locked.
NAN gathered that she consequently raised an alarm which attracted other members of the family and neighbours to the scene.
“When the toilet’s door was eventually forced opened, the man was found with a rope around his neck that was tied to the window’s burglary-proof,’’ an eyewitness told NAN.
The witness, who preferred anonymity, said that efforts to revive Amoo proved abortive, as he was later confirmed dead by doctors at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).
However, Mrs Nike Amoo, wife of the deceased, told NAN that her husband was not sick, while he was not indebted to anybody.
She said that she could not understand the motive behind her husband’s suicide.
Mr Ezekiel Dabo, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kwara, confirmed the suicide case to NAN in a telephone interview.
He said that the corpse had been removed and deposited at UITH for autopsy, adding that the police had commenced investigations into the matter. (NAN)
