Yusuf Maman, a 20-year-old boy, on Thursday allegedly killed his 40-year-old father for scooping two measures of millet from his ban without his permission.
Investigations revealed that the young man allegedly macheted his father, Malam Maman Dan-Alhaji to death following the father's action.
a wave of shock to residents of the village. The incident took place in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
An eye-witness account given by one Malam Ali Fagam stated that the whole village had been shock since the incident occurred. "We are surprised with the way the whole incident happened which is very unusual in our community," he said.
Another member of the village who gave his name as Ahmed Nura, said that "to the best of my knowledge the boy had never been insane but I was shocked with his action that led to the death of his father."
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP. Abdu Jinjiri, who confirmed the incident, said the boy who perpetrated the alleged act had been arrested. Jinjiri said the accused person would be charged to court as soon as investigation into the incident was concluded.
