THE family of Major Hamza Al-Mustapha has threatened to petition the National Judicial Council of Nigeria (NJC), the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) and the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice over moves aimed at frustrating Al-Mustapha who is set to seek justice at the Appeal Court.
Speaking on behalf of the family on Sunday in Kano, Alhaji Hadi al-Mustapha, brother to Major Al-Mustapha said the attention of the family had been drawn to moves to frustrate the plan by Al-Mustapha to seek justice at the Appeal Court.
According to him, “shortly after the recent judgment by a Lagos High court that handed down a death penalty to Major al-Mustapha, we directed our team of lawyers to commence the process of filing an appeal against the judgment which we felt was unjust and lacking in merit.
“As a result, Mr Olalekan Ojo, who held brief for al-Mustapha at the high court, sought for a copy of the written judgment from Justice Mojisola Dada, who delivered the questionable judgment.
“But to our dismay, the copy of the judgment is yet to be made available barely one month after the judgment was delivered under the flimsy excuse that it is yet to be typed.”
