38-yr-old woman kills mum, 70

A 70 year-old woman Madam Abiola Abudu, has allegedly been slaughtered by her daughter, Bolanle Abiola, in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State, on Wednesday night. The incident was said to have occurred when the 38-year-old woman paid a visit to her late mother in company with her male friend.

The suspect and his male accomplice were alleged to have committed the crime around 9.00 p.m and were arrested by the police on Thursday morning. Sunday Tribune learnt that prior to the incident, Bolanle was said to have threatened to deal with her mother for being responsible for her inability to find a husband.

The suspect, a trader in Abeokuta, with the accomplice, killed the septugenarian in her room without the knowledge of the deceased's relatives. While Bolanle was arrested at a motor park within the area, her accomplice was arrested by local vigilance group. One of the deceased’s children confirmed the killing. He added that the deceased has been buried on Thursday according to Islamic rites.

He said that the suspect was the third of six children born by the old woman. Although the state police image-maker, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, could not be reached yesterday for comment, a reliable police source confirmed the arrest of the two suspects. The police source said the suspect had confessed to the crime and that her male friend assisted her in the crime.

“The man said he came from Itoko in Abeokuta where he was contracted for the assassination. He said he had a gang in Abeokuta but only came for the operation in Imeko because their target was an old woman,” the police source said. Share
