Luck again played out in the metropolitan area of Kano State as a car primed with an explosive device, Sunday evening, exploded in the heart of Sabon Gari Area, a predominantly Christian residential quarters in Kano State.
The exact extent of damage, including the likely casualty figure could not be ascertained as at press time but a witness said two persons sustained injury as a result of the blast.
Daily Sun gathered that a vehicle parked by the roadside suddenly exploded at about 7.00 pm in front a row of entertainment spots and outdoor beer parlours. The incident happened at No. 38 New Road by Ado Bayero Square.
The explosion resulted into a deafening noise across the horizon, triggering off panic reactions across several streets as visitors and residents quickly fled from the area while several owners of social spots immediately shut down their shops.
A witness, who saw the car explode, told the Daily Sun that they were busy enjoying the Sunday evening when the explosion occurred. He recalled that the vehicle, a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), was parked in the midst of several other cars, adding that there was nothing unusual about the SUV to suggest it was ill-fated. He said they immediately heard a huge noise and thereafter, everybody took to his heels, adding that the blast blew off the trunk of the SUV.
