A middle aged farmer, Kabiru Jimoh, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly killing his friend, Akinlabi Oseni, over N100.Jimoh was said to have hit his friend with log of wood over a little disagreement on N100. He died three days after the incident.
The money, it was gathered was part of the N500 given to them by another man who employed them to clear a piece of land for him.
Kabiru was given a sum of N150 out of the N500 instead of N250 which was the agreed sharing formula between them but Kabiru insisted that he must get the remaining balance of N100 which led to a fight.
Oseni was rushed to undisclosed hospital where he gave up the ghost.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Oladoye Joshu, told the court that the incident happened on August 21, 2011 around 11:30 am at Ara village in Egbedore local government area of the Osun State.
He said the offence was contrary to section 318 and punishable under section 325 of the criminal code cap 34, vol. II, laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.
Kabiru, who entered into not guilty plea, was not represented by any lawyer and nobody was to file his application paper. The presiding magistrate Olusola Aluko in his ruling ordered that the accused person be remanded in Ilesa prison custody till 20th June 2012 for hearing.
