The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday said that 10 policemen attached to the command have been dismissed over offences bothering on unethical conduct in the last one year.
The command's spokesperson, SP Joseph Jaiyeoba, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos. Jaiyeoba explained that those dismissed were charged with corruption, disobedience, negligence of duty, misuse of fire arms, and drunkenness.
According to him, five of the dismissed policemen have been charged to court. Jaiyeoba also disclosed that 12 policemen were presently facing orderly room trial at the command over similar offences.
The spokesman added that the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, has set up a monitoring team to monitor activities of policemen in the command. Jaiyeoba said mechanisms were being put in place to ensure effective policing of Lagos State.
