Six suspected robbers arrested, hideout demolished


Six suspected armed robbers have been arrested and their hideout demolished at Umuofor, Egbu, Owerri North local council area of Imo State.We gathered that some guns and bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from the hideout.
The Special Assistant, SA, to Governor Rochas Okorocha for Owerri Zonal Security, Mr. Ugochukwu Onyeukwu, confirmed the development in a chat with newsmen after the operation.
He reiterated the determination of his establishment, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police, to eradicate crime in the zone and advised criminals operating in the area to retrace their steps or be prepared to face the full weight of the law.
The SA, who later confirmed that the suspects have been handed over to the polce for further investigation, also disclosed that they were on the trail of a man that allegedly duped a lady of the sum of N1.2 million on the pretext of renting a shop for her in Lagos.
Answering a question, Onyeukwu said that when his operatives stormed the conman’s Eziudo, Aboh Mbaise local government area country home, some fetish materials, including tortoise, a vulture’s head, among other things, were recovered.
He appealed to members of the public to report suspicious movements of persons in their communities to security agencies, stressing that such information would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
