It was gathered that the workers are demanding for an upward review of their minimum wage from the present N16,000 to N25,000. The state Chairman of the judicial workers association, Mr Michael Ibiyemi insisted that they “will not suspend the strike until
government hearkens to our grievances.” But in his reaction, the state Commissioner for Information, Funminiyi Afuye said “Judiciary in Ekiti enjoys independence and financial autonomy and it will be wrong for government to interfere by setting wages standard for an arm that is not directly under it.”
