Tragedy struck in Sokoto Monday when a tipper driver crushed to death a tea seller in the metropolis.
Daily Trust learnt that the incident occurred at about 11am along Dandema/University Road, Runjin Sambo area of Sokoto metropolis.
According to witnesses, the tipper driver who was coming from Dundaye area, lost control of the vehicle and knocked down a tea seller and a motorcyclist. The tea seller was said to have died instantly while the motorcyclist sustained some injuries, it was gathered.
Witnesses attributed the accident to over speeding by the tipper driver.
The tipper driver escaped mob attack by some irate youths in the area that set the vehicle ablaze.
The situation was however brought under control with the arrival of policemen.
