Muslims in Kaduna state have conducted their weekly Juma’at (Friday) prayers peacefully, amidst tight security.
In their sermons, Imams of the various mosques in Kaduna metropolis offered special prayers for peace, stability and unity in the country.
They also appealed to the faithful to cooperate with security agents to restore law and order in the state.
The clergymen also urged Muslims to be patient and tolerant with adherents of other religions.
The Imams further advised youths against reprisals, saying it would instigate further violence rather than resolving the lingering crisis in the state.
The Chief Imam of Government College Central Mosque, Sheikh Shu’aibu Kadan-Da-Hausa, said in his sermon that Islam preached peace and peaceful co-existence with one another.
He appealed to Muslims to shun violence as Islam had provided ways they should live with other faithful as witnessed during the time of the Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
On his part, the Chief Imam of Al-Mannar Mosque, Malam Adam Tukur, appealed to government to take measures against recurrence of violent attacks, saying that all religions preached peace.
Similarly, Imam Hassan Umar of Unguwar Rimi Central Mosque, condemned the spate of violence and reprisal attacks on innocent citizens.
He admonished Muslims to shun acts of lawlessness and practice the tenets of Islam.
The faithful were able to offer their weekly Juma’at prayers peacefully, following the easing of the 24-hour curfew imposed on the state by government by four hours.
The curfew was relaxed between 12 noon and 4 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday June 24, to enable Christian Faithful conduct their service.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Juma’at prayers were offered across the state under tight security.
