Free Fuel for Okada Riders

Operators of commercial motorcycles in Anambra East LGA will for some weeks get free fuel to go about their business, the chairman of the council has announced. Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe disclosed this yesterday, when he flagged off his administration’s pet project named; “Free Fueling Project”.

He explained that the project will ensure that all registered commercial motorcyclists within the local government area will be served free fuel on his account. The council boss said within the period, each beneficiary will be entitled to five liters of fuel per day.

Obidigwe said the project is a personal project he initiated in response to Governor Peter Obi’s directives that each local government chairman in the state is to institute a pet project as a way of impacting directly on the people.

He said, “I want to start with Okada riders given the benefits we intend to achieve from them. We intend to bring them closer to our government so that they would always act as watchdogs against criminals, and feed us with information about the activities of criminally minded people.

“We believe that such moves would help the police and vigilantes have directions on how to fight violent crimes. After this, we intend to initiate more projects that would touch the lives of all other strata of individuals in our area.”
