It could be recalled that a talented Ghanaian squad that included AC Milan’s Michael Essien and Al Ain’s Asamoah Gyan failed to advance beyond the group stage after losing to the United States and Portugal and secured a draw with Germany in their group.

According to a statement released from President John Dramani Mahama’s office on Saturday, 28 June, 2014, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah would become a junior minister at the presidency.Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Joseph Yammin was also reassigned to be a deputy minister in the Ashanti Region.

The statement said the moves were “part of ongoing changes in (Mahama’s) administration.”

The west African Nation's exit from the Mundial was overshadowed by drama off the pitch as the Ghana Football Association, GFA, expelled two of their highest profile players, striker Kevin-Prince Boateng and troublesome midfielder Sulley Muntari from the team's camp prior to their final group match against Portugal.

Explaining why the two players were expelled from camp, the GFA stated that Muntari, who has a history of disciplinary problems, had assaulted a staff member and Boateng insulted coach Kwesi Appiah.

Boateng, one of the stars of the 2010 World Cup finals when Ghana reached the quarter-finals, has come out to deny the allegation.

BREAKING NEWS: Kevin Prince Boateng & Sulley Muntari SACKED From Camp

All is not well in the Ghana World cup camp right now. Ghanaian footballers-Sulley Muntari and Kevin Prince Boateng has been SACKED from Black Stars camp. The two were asked to leave by 8am. This comes ahead of Ghana’s match with Portugal tonight. We are not certain if the two will play tonight following the SACK.

Though what must have caused the Sacking of Sulley Muntari and Kevin Prince Boateng has not been confirmed yet, we hear Sulley Muntari’s assault on the owner of Medeama-Moses Parker Armah (Black Stars committee member) over a confrontation is what fetched him the boot.

Ghanaian international and AC Milan star-Sulley Muntari was earlier today reported to have SLAPPED one of the Black Stars committee members during an altercation at the Black Stars camp in Brasilia.

During a back and forth confrontation between Medeama owner-Moses Parker Armah and Sulley Muntari, “Sulley, who overly got furious over Moses Parker’s comment on an issue they were discussing, rushed on the Medama bankroller and punched him on the face.

Ghanaian President Sends $3m Cash To Players In Brazil

BBC reports that Ghana's government has sent over $3m (£1.8m) in cash by plane to Brazil to pay the appearance fees owed to the national team players at the World Cup.

Deputy Sports Minister Joseph Yamin told Ghanaian radio station Citi FM: "The players insisted that they will want physical cash.

"The government had to mobilise the money and a chartered flight to Brazil. The money is in excess of $3m."

Ghana must beat Portugal on Thursday (TODAY) for a chance of staying in the cup.

A draw or a defeat would mean elimination from tournament, while even a win would not be enough to put Ghana through to the knockout phase if Group G rivals United States and Germany were to draw their match.

Earlier in the week, there were rumours the Black Stars could boycott training ahead of the game if their demand for payment was not met..

As unrest grew in the Ghana camp, Ghana President John Dramani Mahama personally assured the players that they would receive their money.

A statement from the Ghana Football Association said: "The government is pre-financing the payment of the Black Stars appearance fees which will be reimbursed when Fifa's prize money for Ghana's participation in the World Cup is paid after the tournament in Brazil."
