Ibinabo Fiberesima has been stripped off her position as the president of Actors Guild of Nigeria,by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos yesterday. This was revealed in a statement issued by the National Secretary of AGN, Femi Durojaiye.

The statement released:
“The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, this morning 23/3/2016 at the application and argument of Counsel to Actors Guild of Nigeria, Barr. Peter Andor Oboyi, struck out Ibinabo’s and BOT suit challenging the nullification of her election to the Presidency of AGN and also challenging the legitimacy of the Presidency of Emeka Ike and his Exco. The implication of this judgement is that Engr. Emeka Ike led Exco remain the only authentic and lawful leaders of Actors Guild of Nigeria,"
"The Honourable Court vehemently reiterated the position of the judicial authority that, Ibinabo, her purported exco members and the Board of Trustees vacate forthwith the office of AGN both at the National and State level and accordingly surrender all AGN assets at their unlawful possession to the incumbent Engr Emeka Ike’s Government.”

'Those who steal must be punished & made to pay for what they do' - Okonjo-Iweala

Former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has said that the fight against corruption should go along side with punishment. Those who have been found guilty of stealing should pay for what they have done. She said this while speaking at the Africa CEO forum holding in Cote d'Ivoire yesterday March 21st

“We have to fight corruption in two ways; one is by punishing those who steal, and making sure they pay for what they do. But we also must plug all the holes by building institutions and systems that prevent corruption in the first place. If you have a financial system for running your financial accounts that is not computerized, that is not technologically based, you’re still transferring cash, as we were doing in my country up until 2003, 2004, then you’re opening up the place to a lot of people leaking”she said

Bank Marketer Flees With Customers' Cash Deposits in Lagos

A  28-year-old marketer with Diamond Bank Plc, Okota branch, Lagos State, who reportedly fled with a sum of N309,000 belonging to his bank customers has been arrested.

The suspect named Isiaka Abiodun was contracted by the bank from Strategic Outsourcing Limited in 2013.

He had collected the monies as deposits from one Mrs. Nneka Eze, a trader in Lekki, and two others, identified only as Ebulu and Chidera.

PUNCH Metro, however, gathered that only Eze, whose deposit was N300,000, had approached the bank on the alleged fraud.

Their correspondent was told that the 28-year-old suspect had obtained the sum from the traders sometime in July 2015, but disappeared from the bank in November, when the fraud was discovered.

The bank was said to have reported the crime to the company through which Abiodun was employed. It was learnt that the chief security officer of the firm consequently reported the case at the Ajah Police Division.

The police said the suspect was later tracked down to his house on March 7, 2016.

But in his statement to the police, Abiodun said he used the money to pay the medical bill of his mother who had a stroke. He said he intended to refund the money piecemeal from his salaries, adding that he had repaid N50,000.

He said:
“I am a contract worker with the bank and I have been working there for three years. It is true that I collected N309,000 from the bank customers. But I used the money to treat my mother who had a stroke. I travelled in November to attend to her. I have paid N50,000 to the bank. I intend to pay the balance in instalment from my salary.”
A police prosecutor, Inspector I. Okeke, brought the suspect before a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court on Monday on one count of stealing.

Okeke told the court that the defendant had confessed to the offence, which is punishable under Section 285 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the count and elected summary trial. He was granted bail by the presiding magistrate, Mr. A. Adefulire, in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned till April 20, 2016.

Adams Oshiomole React To Dino Melaye Statement

Governor, Adams Oshiomole of Edo State is not happy with Senator Dino Melaye over comments about him and has demand an apology. The senator while in the senate house on Wednesday March 2nd, made a statement that Nigerian men do not like patronizing Made in Nigeria Girls using Oshiomole as an example.

Oshiomole reacted to the comment via a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Peter Okhiria. The statement reads

“Our attention has been drawn to the unprovoked verbal assault launched by one Senator Dino Melaye on the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, while making a contribution on the floor of the Senate on the need to patronize made-in-Nigeria goods. As a “nephew” of the Governor and members of the same party, we expected Senator Melaye to tender an unreserved public apology to the Comrade Governor, to no avail. It is an open secret that Senator Melaye cannot maintain a decent matrimonial home hence he could descend to this pedestrian level of using the hallowed chambers to “cargorise” women as if they were pieces of items for purchase. Any responsible individual that is truly worth to be called a Senator, a position that convokes respect, decorum and decent public conduct, should know the limits of his verbal diarrhea. The liberty of free speech guaranteed in the hallowed chambers does not impose lunacy on anyone to disparage other Nigerians, let alone pry into their matrimony in a very derisive manner. We had intended to ignore this uncomplimentary comment as one of the several empty displays of the Senator, but the fact that it tends to reduce women to pieces of tissue calls for this response. As we probed into Dino Melaye’s humanity, we were reminded that he is a man known for his vainglorious rodomontade and the childish display of his ostentatious lifestyle complements his love for foreign items. Many of such euro-centric mentality he has persistently displayed on social media, to underscore his materialistic eccentricity, hence his dialectical opposition to made-in-Nigeria goods. But an attempt at making women wear the garb of goods to be picked off the shelves was to take the issue to a ridiculous and irresponsible level. By delving into the private affair and marriage of the Comrade Governor, Senator Melaye has exposed himself as a simpleton and a court jester whose words and tactlessness cannot be taken seriously by matured people. We advise that Melaye should mend his ways with his ex-wife and concubines before coming to the village square to display his crass ignorance and emptiness to the Nigerian people. If he has anything to offer, Dino Melaye should concentrate on making good laws for the people of Nigeria rather than descend to a ridiculous level, thus displaying to the whole world his unworthiness to sit in the hallowed chambers of the Nigerian Senate".

Alfa Dupes Woman Of N350k After Promising Her He Could Multiply The Money To N5million

The Maroko Police Division in Lekki, Lagos have arrested a self-acclaimed Alfa, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahamido, for allegedly defrauding a trader, Sarah Moses.

According to reports, Ahamido collected N350,000 from Moses, promising to boost her business by turning the money to N5m.

He was, however, alleged to have fled with the money, after giving his girlfriend, Hawa Musa, N100,000 to “renew their love”.

A source explained that the victim had been introduced to Ahamido sometime in December, 2015, in a restaurant in Lekki. Ahamido was said to have boasted special powers that could make him multiply money after prayers.

The source said, “The woman initially did not believe. So, he promised to help her bring out her child, who at the time was arrested by the police for an offence he committed.

“He prepared some concoction for her, and just like that, the woman’s son was released. That immediately convinced her and she trusted him.”

She was said to have asked him for help concerning her business, which was not doing well.

The suspect reportedly asked her to give him N350, 000 so he could turn it to N5m. Moses said she believed him, and gave him the money.

She said, “I told him I would be travelling to Ghana in December 2015, and I would return in January 2016. He gave me something to put under my pillow. He said when I return from my trip, I should check the pillow and the N5m would be there.

“When I returned, I checked under the pillow, but I did not see any money. I called him to inform him, and he said it was my fault because I did not come back on time. He said the money came out from the container he gave me, but when I did not pack it on time, it went back.

“He asked me to pay another N9,000 so that he could make another charm to repair the damage. It was after I gave him the money and he disappeared that I knew I was dealing with a fraudster.”

She said she reported the case to the police, and after a manhunt, Ahamido was arrested.

The 47-year-old suspect, however, said he did not mean to dupe the trader, adding that he tried to multiply the money, but failed.

While denying taking up to N350,000 from his victim, he told the police that he gave N100,000 to his girlfriend.

“I did not collect up to N350,000 from her, and she even gave me the money piecemeal. The total is N150,000. I will refund the money since her blood was not compatible with the prayers,” he said.

His girlfriend, Musa, denied collecting N100,000 from him.

She said, “I came to Lagos about 15 years ago. It was about three months ago that Alhaji came to me and said he wanted to date me. Three days later, he bought a wrapper for me. I did not know where he got it from. When he continued buying me more wrappers, I suspected something was wrong and I started keeping them so that if a police case arose, I would be able to defend myself. He bought me only four wrappers. He never gave me any N100, 000.”

The police, however, arraigned the duo before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court on two counts of obtaining under false pretences.

The charge read in part,

“That you, Ibrahim Ahamido, and Hawa Musa, on February 22, 2016, at Marwa Waterside, Lekki, Lagos, in the Eti-osa Local Government Area, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did obtain by false pretences the sum of N340,000 from one Sarah Moses, with the pretence of making more money for her.”

The police prosecutor, Sergeant Cyriacus Osuji, said the offences were punishable under sections 409 and 312 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.

While Ahamado pleaded guilty to the charge, his girlfriend, Musa, said she was not guilty and elected summary trial.

The magistrate, Mrs. J.O.A. Adepoju, admitted her to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till March 2 for facts and sentence of Musa.

UNILAG Student Gets Shock Humiliation Of His Life When He Attended Ben Bruce's Birthday Party(Shares Photos)

A Unilag student Abidemi Adesokan, was invited to Senator Ben Bruce's 60th birthday celebration on friday, but he got a treatment that was very different from his expectation. Read below...

 Who is Genuine in Nigeria?

Senator Ben Murray Bruce turned 60 yesterday, he took the opportunity to launch his book "The Common Sense Revolution" but it's sad to see that the event in its totality portrays the average Nigerian Politician.

Usually, I hate to attend these so called "Big" events but it was Ben Bruce, the common sense guy, I jumped at the Opportunity to go with my department, department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos as we were invited with a letter and we were feeling all important. We didn't know it was an invitation to humiliation.

At the venue, we were told to go upstairs, we didn't mind, as they said that area was reserved for students. Getting there, I realized it was a perfect view to watch the "Elites" wine and dine. Still, we didn't care. We only began to care when the ceremony kept going on and all tables kept getting additional contents and we were just there, like Observers. Don't forget that we were invited, as I said earlier.

While all of that kept happening, I still didn't care because they said every guest will get a free copy of the book. I wanted the book so, I waited on. At the end, only the guests got the Book. I had to look at our invitation to be sure we were guests. Yes, we were guests but the stiff class stratification that Senator Bruce Criticizes came to play.

It's so sad to see that the actions of the Common Sense Guy justifies the "Common Sense is not so common" statement.

Since I know it's all fake, I'd like to give a professional PR advice. It's so bad, if you invite Nigerian Students, who will, to a large extent, determine your political success, to an event only for them to watch you and your rich friends dine. Their votes aren't even enough.

Writing a book about Common Sense doesn't actually make you have Common Sense. We aren't hungry people. We are Unilag Students and we are contented with what we have, we wouldn't go to shop 10 to sweet-talk anyone about common sense, just to get rice.

Happy Birthday, Senator Ben! Thanks for the deceit, segregation and above all, thanks so much for the Palm oil made Jollof Rice with a meat-like object.

I am Abidemi Adesokan, A concerned Nigerian Student who believes there is hope for Nigeria, but Bruce isn't just that guy.
