In the name of Freedom: Tibetan protester sets himself on fire (PHOTOS)

A Tibetan protester has been treated for severe burns after setting himself on fire in a demonstration during the Chinese president's visit to India.

The unidentified male protester sprinted for 50m through New Delhi today engulfed in flames as hundreds demonstrated against China's rule over Tibet.

The protester carried out the self-immolation as he ran near the speakers at a rally near the Indian Parliament in the country's capital.

He collapsed after around 50m as fellow protesters beat out the flames with Tibetan flags they were carrying.

The man was later treated for severe burns at a New Delhi hopital, one Tibetan organiser said.

He made the dramatic protest as Chinese President Hu Jintao prepared to arrive in India later this week for a summit meeting.

Protesters burn down INEC office and other buildings in Niger state

Riot broke out in parts of Niger state this morning as protesters took to the streets.

The INEC office along David Mark road in Minna, the Governor's campaign office at Mobil Roundabout, Senator Awaisu Kuta's house, PDP vice chairman Barr.

Tanko Beji's chamber and IBB campaign office were all set on fire by irate protesters a few hours ago.

The announcement by head of service in Niger state asking workers to resume resulted in the violent demonstrations.

A mosque was set on fire,hausa quarter burnt and 4 killed in BENIN(disturbing pic)

Over 10,000 Northerners, who until recently resided in the southern cities of Asaba, Port-Harcourt, Owerri, Onitsha, Warri, Uyo, Calabar, Benin, were seen on heavy trucks and luxury buses heading to the Northern part of Nigeria.

They are all leaving the South for fear of reprisal attacks following the recent killings of Southerners by Boko Haram sect in the North.

The reprisal attacks have already begun in Benin. A mosque was set on fire at Kings Square, a Bureau De Change building was also set ablaze, and four Hausas have been confirmed dead.
