Armed robbers invades Wudil cattle market, kill one, injured 4

A gang of armed robbers numbering five, on Friday, invaded the popular Wudil Cattle Market, killing one person, leaving for people wounded while carting away millions of naira.

Wudil market is about 50 kilometre away from the ancient city of Kano, and is on a popular road leading to Maiduguri

According to a source who disclosed this to newsmen but preferred anonymity, the robbers came into the market and snatched huge amount of money running into millions of naira, which allegedly belonged to a trader who came to buy large number of rams.

The source further disclosed that whenever festival was around, traders from far and near usually besiege the market to buy rams.

He added that many traders who come to buy rams from the market, always come with huge amount of money to buy large number of rams which they carry to their respective towns and states to sell.

Speaking with journalists in Kano on Friday, deputy Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) ASP, Umar Mohammed Awwal, while confirming the robbery incident said no arrest had been made .

ASP. Awwal, informed pressmen that the armed robbers trailed the business man from Abuja to Kano, in order to rob him of his money.

He then stated that on getting to Wudil cattle market, they attacked him and robbed him of his money.

ASP Awwal added that people in the market raised the alarm when the armed robbers started shooting into the air.

As a result of the indiscriminate shooting by the armed robbers , one civilian was killed while unconfirmed number of people were wounded.

He, however, stated that no arrest had been made as at the time of filing this report, adding that the police had commenced investigation into the matter.
