Complaining that his wife beats him violently whenever they quarrel, Mr. Oseni told the court during one of the very dramatic sittings that...
“My wife is very violent in nature, when we get home now she would start her usual attitude again. She threatens me with a knife; please separate us before she kills me." When he filed for a divorce on October 19, 2011, citing battering and violent behaviour, the father of one openly told the court that he could no longer withstand the beatings and intimidation.
To surprise of those present in court his wife, 45 year-old Mariam Oseni, said she agreed with everything her husband had said, saying she accepted the blame and urged the court to dissolve their marriage. Sounding some what arrogant, Mrs. Mariam said: "Separate us. I am no more interested. Please grant him whatever he wishes so that I would also have a rest of mind."
After listening to the submissions of both parties, the president of the Ikorodu Customary court in Lagos, Alhaji Nojeem Isiaka, dissolved the marriage and granted Mr. Oseni custody of their only child, a five years old girl. He counseled them to go their separate ways, maintain peace and be good citizens.
Hmm, women, women, women!!! How many times I call una? Shai, some women don dey become Hulk Hogan o! But seriously, what is really happening these days? Is it that men no longer has 'power' again? Cases of wife beating husband are becoming rampant in our society. What do you think is responsible for this? Kindly share your thoughts.
