Worried at the dangerous trend of Pastors putting the love of money first before the reason they were called into Ministry – the work of God – the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of Church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, have condemned the ugly development, describing it as very unethical and unacceptable.
He said those Pastors who engage in such practices are mere businessmen who are using the house of God to achieve their selfish agenda. He urged those in this category to have a rethink and change their ways through prayers.
Below is the respected man of God’s position on the dangerous trend:
“Can you imagine that when some pastors are transferred to a local church in a remote part of the town or city, the first thing that occurs to them is: 'how many rich people will I find there?'
Most church leaders who claim to have the call of God, hardly ever feel called to minister to villagers but to those in the city. This clearly shows that for many, the motivation for ministry is not God but money. They are in business, not that of Christ but of self, using the name of Christ fraudulently. Are you such a leader? This is why we should pray more for our leaders”.
