Protesters take over Gombe…ask Jonathan to resign

Youths and students of various institutions of higher learning in Gombe State have called for the resignation of President Goodluck Jonathan over the removal of fuel subsidy and according to them, ‘adding to the suffering of ordinary Nigerians.

The protesters, Friday, marched through Gombe metropolis carrying placards with different inscriptions such as; “President Jonathan must go”, “Jonathan should step aside”, “fuel subsidy removal is evil”, “we have suffered enough”, “Nigerians are united against removal of subsidy” among many others.

At the Government House Gombe, spokesman of the protesting youths, Abdulmalik Suleiman told the Secretary to the Gombe State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Sule Bage, who represented Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo that the removal of the fuel subsidy has brought untold hardship on Nigerians, asking the governor to relay the message to the president.

Responding, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, who spoke through the Secretary of the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Sule Bage promised to forward their request to President Jonathan and called on them to remain peaceful in their protest.
