Edo State Police Command yesterday paraded 13 suspected robbers allegedly involved in various robbery operations in different parts of the country.

The new Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr Umar Manko, who vowed to make life unbearable for criminals and cultists in the state, also disclosed that the two police officers who were on duty when nine suspects escaped from the cells of the command will face disciplinary action in accordance with laws of the force.

Manko explained that the robbers had, on the 10th of last month, attacked a house at Ugbor where they robbed

the occupants and kidnapped a two-year-old baby in the process.

He said the little girl was later rescued unhurt from the

captors in an uncompleted building along Dumez road in the state capital. He said two of the suspects are on the run while efforts are on by operatives of the anti-robbery unit of the command to track them down.

Also arrested by the command is 42-year-old Gooddluck Ibobo, a father of seven children who confessed to participating actively in the protracted Ijaw/Itsekiri ethnic war that left hundreds of people dead and several houses burnt in Delta state.

Ibobo, who was released on bail while standing trial for alleged murder case at the Magistrate court in the state but later veered into armed robbery, confessed that he fled Delta State for Edo State where he got married to three wives who bore him the seven children.

On the nine suspects that escaped from the police cell, the CP said, “out of that number, only one of them was actually involved in a robbery operation. Others are just petty thieves.”
