Fresh revelations by a Boko Haram insider indicates that Kabiru Sokoto have been a rejected member of the sect before his celebrated arrest. According to a reliable source within the terrorist group, it had already expelled Kabiru from its Sokoto State branch for certain reasons.

The source reveals that it discounted Kabiru’s arrest by the Nigerian security agents. He said their decision not to attack police stations in Abuja following the first arrest of Kabiru is indicative of the low priority attached to his person in the group.

Kabiru was made the head of the Sokoto sector of the militants operations – but, according to this source, was sent away from Sokoto following the discovery that he suffered from mental related illness.

If Kabiru Sokoto was still an active member of our group, “we would have damaged Abuja”, say the source. He buttressed this position by recalling the attacks that followed the capture of their spokesman, Abu Qaqa.

The attacks on Kano and Bauchi States were also cited as typical response to the capture of prized members of the sect.

In a related development, the source reveals that the terrorist group has agreed to an 8-day cease-fire on major attacks in the country; starting from February 10, 2012 and expiring on February 18, 2012.

This is as a result of an ongoing secret dialogue between the group and agents of Government. The leader of the group has promised to reach out to the field operatives to halt all attacks.

This confirms an earlier report which indicated that the men of Boko Haram has begun secret meetings with the office of the National Security Adviser.
