A staff of the Federal Medical Center, Lokoja (FMC) has been accused of attempting to rape a woman, who was taking care of a patient on admission in the hospital.
The incident, according to a source at the hospital, occurred on Tuesday night in an uncompleted building within the hospital’s premises.
The source said the suspect, who is a computer operator with the hospital, was in the habit of introducing himself to patients as a medical doctor.
It was gathered that on the day of the incident, the suspect allegedly lured the woman from the ward late in the night to an uncompleted building within the premises of the hospital, and pleaded with the man in charge of the uncompleted building to let him in.
The source added that when the suspect attempted to rape the woman, she shouted, and attracted security men, who apprehended him. The Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Mallam Abdullahi Abdulrahaman confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect was not a medical doctor, but a staff in the computer department of the hospital. He said the management of the hospital has taken up the case.
