Death toll of Lagos building collapse rises to seven

At least seven persons have been confirmed dead in the uncompleted four-storey building belonging to  Iru/Victoria Island Local Council Development Area which collapsed on Monday afternoon in Victoria Island area of Lagos State. Rescued operations ended at about 6pm on Tuesday.
TG gathered that the victims who lost their lives were construction workers and the architect, Oyedele, who designed the building and was supervising the building which collapsed at 8, Muri-Okunola Street, Iru/Victoria Island Local Council Development Area.
The General Manager of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed that seven lifeless bodies have so far been recovered, said 25 others mostly construction workers were also rescued from the rubbles of the collapsed building.
He said the rescue officials worked through the night, adding that his men had to relocate from the Great Nigeria Insurance building fire disaster scene to the scene of the collapsed building to save lives.
“At least seven dead bodies were recovered while 25 people have been rescued from the collapsed building. Most of them were artisans and the architect that designed the building,” he stated.
