When ex-minister of Information and former NAFDAC boss, Prof Dora Akunyili appeared on our screen after a very long time, we were shocked to see her looking emaciated and unlike her old vibrant self. So many Nigerians thought she needed more time to recover before embarking on the stress of the National Confab but the always optimistic and courageous woman who always want to serve her country did not relent but after a while i guess the stress finally caught up with her and her health deteriorated.
Reports coming in revealed she left for India on Sunday May 11th after her health deteriorated and currently receiving treatment.
According to a statement she released through her Media Advisor, Mr. Isaac Umunna, Prof. Akunyili expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and goodwill towards her since the information of her deteriorating health emerged on Sunday. The statement reads in part;
"I am touched – indeed, overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and affection by my fellow countrymen and women, as well as numerous other well wishers around the world, many of whom have not only been praying for me but have also been mobilising through the various social networks for God’s healing hands to come upon me. I am confident that Almighty God will hear our prayers and grant me quick recovery. I love you all and pray that Almighty God blesses you all."
We can't wait to have to back.You are one of the few symbols of hope people are still holding on to and we pray you come back stronger and continue the fight to make Nigeria great.

  1. Dear Lord, I ask you to turn her weakness into strength, suffering into compassion, sorrow into joy, and pain into comfort for others. May your servant trust in your goodness and hope in your faithfulness, even in the middle of this her sickness. Let her be filled with patience and joy in your presence as she waits for your healing touch.

    Restore her your servant Professor Dora Akunyili to full health, dear Father. Remove all fear and doubt from her heart by the power of your Holy Spirit, and may you, Lord, be glorified through her life in Jesus name i pray. Amen.
