Only in Nigeria would an AIG(assistant Inspector General of police) make a statement like this and still brag about it. In a civilize society, he would have been forced to resign or be fired. Yes, I've been in a civilized society. The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 in Lagos, AIG Joseph Mbu, has attributed the peaceful conduct of the governorship and assembly elections in Lagos State to an earlier threat he issued to kill 10 people for every policeman killed.
The AIG stated this on Saturday after leading a team of police officers and journalists to monitor the elections in some parts of the state.
The team visited the Ikeja, Agege, Alimosho, Somolu, Ogudu, Yaba, Lagos Island and Gbagada areas of Lagos State, among others.
No chaos or fight was witnessed in all the areas as residents cheered the police team.
Meanwhile, three people were arrested in the Ikeja GRA for moving around in their cars, while a passerby, who attempted recording the scene, was equally
apprehended and his smartphone smashed by a policeman.

Speaking at the end of the tour, Mbu lauded the courage of policemen in the state and the orderly conduct of the elections.
When asked what he thought was responsible for the peaceful conduct of the elections, Mbu said, “Generally, people are becoming more and more mature.
“Also, the statement I made, which people misconstrued, also helped the police because people say, ‘this man has come o, and whatever he says, he means it’, and that instilled fear in them. Go and check all the places where I served, how many people have died? We don’t kill anyhow.
This man must be a military officer, is it lawful for the phone of a passerby to be smashed by the police for recording police activities.?
